The Four Courts — Restaurant in Aix-en-Provence

If ever visiting the charming town aix en Provence, please DO NOT RUIN IT BY DINING AT FOUR CORNERS "IRISH PUB!" The chef there refused to serve us because we requested a hamburger with no bun due to gluten allergies. Afterall, as the unconcerned waiter said, "he does have standards, and a hamburger is not a hamburger without a bun,". I was taken aback to say the least. I explained we couldn't eat there then. to which the waiter replied "oh well," and we left. I composed myself and went back hoping to have a polite conversation with the manager who turned out to be the chef. I will make this story as short as possible from here forward because I want you to read this: the chef refused to speak to me because, as he told me in English with a perfect American accent, "he didn't speak English." The bartender was ruder than I can describe here in civil language. And the waiter who pleaded that there was nothing he could do ultimately used a well-known British expression intended to offend while literally kicking me out. As l left I lost my composure completely and responded in kind to the waiters crude words. All Of this leads me to wonder whether the burgers there are so small that they aren't discernible without a big thick bun or whether the restaurant simply discriminates against people with a special need or allergy (I.e. "Hold the bun"). In either case don't waste a single Euro on this place. The Irish would be appalled. P. S. This ap makes me give at least one star in order to post. Une honte ! Je suis aixoise depuis toujours et je n’avais jamais eu aucun problème avec cet établissement. Nous arrivons pour demander une table en intérieur et on nous réponds qu’il n’y a plus de place à l’intérieur mais qu’il en reste a l’extérieur (il pleuvait mais cela ne nous dérangeais pas). Nous remarquons que des clients allaient vers le fond de l’établissement et nous avons donc demandé s’il y avait une seconde salle a l’intérieur, le serveur répond qu’il n’y pas de salle. Nous allons donc a l’extérieur. Après 15 minutes d’attente aucun des serveurs n’étaient venus prendre notre commande (sans doute pour ne pas à avoir à sortir dehors) nous nous sommes donc levés et rendus au comptoir pour passer la commande(ce qui déjà n’est pas normal). Les 2 boissons arrivent après 10 minutes (un peu de monde donc pas dérangeant mais quand même). Lorsque le serveur arrive pour nous servir, nous commandons une planche à partager. Après 35 minutes le serveur arrive comme une fleur avec la planche. Ayant froid, finis nos verres et étant attendu ailleurs nous lui avons dis : "non merci désolé mais nous attendons depuis trop longtemps alors nous n’allons pas prendre la planche". Le serveur s’est énervé sur nous et hurlait. Il est ensuite aller chercher le premier serveur avec qui nous avions eu à faire et celui ci nous dis que lorsque l’on commande nous devons consommer (ce qui est logique normalement). Nous lui expliquons que depuis le début nous n’avons aucune considération de la part du personnel et que l’attente est excessif. Il commence également à s’énerver. Nous lui faisons part du fait qu’il nous a indiqué qu’aucune salle a l’arrière existait alors que ceci est totalement faux. Il s’énerve encore plus, bégaye et s’en vas en nous disant de partir sans payer. Je travaille personnellement dans le monde de l’hôtellerie et restauration et JE N’AVAIS JAMAIS ÉTÉ CONFRONTÉ À CE GENRE D’ATTITUDE. C’EST UNE HONTE !!!!! For a pub named after such a place where Irish people where judges and executed they don't treat Irish people well also don't speak a lick of English, nor are there any Irish people / non French people in there. Found it very aggravating to say the least being treated so rudely by a waiter the first night asking us to pay straight away after we finished our meal because he was finishing work.
