We had a very nice evening at Le Bistroquet in Aix en Provence.
The service was very fast. The owner and the waitress took our orders promptly and the food arrived quickly too. Any requests made like for a glass of ice cubes for the drinks were taken and brought quickly.
We ordered three main dishes:
Entrecôte with french fries and salad The meat was a little bit overcooked, but still tasted good and was from good quality. The fries were crispy and hot, but the salad tasted old and not fresh.
Iberian pork with mashed potatoes and vegetable ratatouille The meat tasted nice and tender and was from good quality. The mashed potatoes were good too, but they weren't anything special. The vegetable ratatouille was very tasty.
Mixed Vegetables stuffed with ground beef and mashed potatoes The Vegetables were so delicious! Especially the combination with the ground beef made this a fantastic meal. Definitely recommended!!! :-)
As an dessert we had the Chocolate lava cake which was absolutely amazing! The texture of it was so creamy and it definitely tasted homemade. Definitely recommended!!! :-)
Their wine selection is big, so their is definitely something for everyone. We had a nice bottle of white wine which went perfectly to our meal.
All in all I can say that this restaurant is a definite recommendation! The fact that the staff was so nice to us really made our...
Read moreWe chose this place on a Sunday evening as there are limited open restaurants in town and our concierge recommended it. The staff was unfriendly and cold, the ambience truly nothing special and the food was lame. The best part was the roll (clearly from a bakery). We paid 19Euros for my chicken curry listed has coming with peanuts, vegetables and noodles. What I received was 3 strips of red pepper with 4 peanuts and some UNCOOKED strips of chicken with noodles. Totally uninspired. I told the waiter and showed him the chicken was actually uncooked and he said nothing and offered nothing, not even an apology. I would never choose this place if you have any...
Read moreThis was a restaurant we will certainly remember. Situated adjacent to many other fine restaurants in the centre of old Aix-En-Provence, our meal was exquisite. I had the salmon tartare for entree and the lamb shank for main and it was the best lamb shank I have ever had, which is high praise coming from Australian. The wine list was very good and when in France I suggest you stick to what they do best, wine. Our host waiter, who I think was the owner m, Was very friendly and attentive. He helped to make the meal special. We ate indoors and upstairs which was a very quiet area with great atmosphere....
