Restaurant Le Portofino — Restaurant in Aix-en-Provence

One of the worst restaurant experiences we have had not just in Aix en Provence, but anywhere in the world.

To start, we were given sliced hamburger buns as our table bread, which should speak for itself. We took a few bites to make sure, and we were honestly in disbelief because we saw normal french bread on other tables and in the online pictures/reviews. Every dish is 15-20 euro and we are served sliced hamburger buns?

For starters we ordered the arancini, which were flavorful, but one of the three pieces was ice cold in the middle.

We ordered the burger du portofino and the gnocchi alla portofino for our main dishes. The gnocchi came out cold, and had absolutely zero flavor. It was terrible. The burger was cold too, big surprise, and was almost raw in the middle. The panisse fries were good, but not enough to make up for the cold and uncooked burger.

We asked for the check almost immediately after receiving our main dishes. We were unable to finish either dish because of the cold temperature and lack of flavor. Our waiter noticed our displeasure, we told him the food came out cold, but he did nothing to fix the issue besides yell at the kitchen staff. We waited another 15 minutes for the check because our waiter went to smoke a cigarette, bring checks to several other tables, and chat with coworkers before we finally were able to flag him down by waving my credit card in the air. Some of the staff was very polite and friendly, our waiter was not.

I’ve never sent food back but today was the day! What should have been a simple linguini was dry and tasteless! Adding salt and olive oil did nothing to improve the taste or texture of this sad excuse of a dish! My wife’s choice was almost as bad, barely edible.

Should have known better than to try Italian food in a French town. Waitress was friendly though, and while she seemed distressed about the plate being returned barely eaten, she could have offered a complimentary dessert or a discount...

service horrible. on réserve une table pour deux un samedi soir à 20:45. tout excité d’aller au restaurant en amoureux. mais ce fut le début du cauchemar, on nous prend la commande à 21:12 soit 27 minutes après. l’entrée arrive 11 minutes après la prise de commande. même pour une carave d’eau ca prend du temps. à deux doigts d’aller prendre l’eau des toilettes. puis n’en parlons pas du plat qui arrive à 22:00. une attente interminable. on a le temps de faire un trajet aix-en provence avignon avant de pouvoir être servis. limite on se demande si on n’a besoin d’aller préparer nos plats seul. on nous a tellement oublié qu’on a eu le droit à ce que la serveuse vienne nous demander où est-ce qu’on en été et un rappel de notre commande. c’est vraiment dommage parce que le restaurant avait l’air charmant et la carte était assez attractif. on a pris un antipasti en entrée à 17€ qui n’était pas du tout copieux pour le prix. 19€ pour des linguini avec des boulettes italiennes. la sauce était fade on se demande si elle a été assaisonnée, avec trois grosses boules de viande. les pâtes étaient toutes coupées, meme les linguinis en grande surface sont plus appétissantes. on pensait qu’on allait passer un bon moment au restaurant en amoureux mais au final ca à juste gâché notre soirée. du service au plats le rapport qualité-prix n’est pas au rendez-vous. je ne vous recommande pas du tout le restaurant. mais si vous avez du temps, foncez vous êtes au...
