I came to enjoy a meal after a few days of exploring the Battlefields of the Western front & excited for an italian meal after weeks in Italy. We ordered and immediately saw an anomaly. Extra drink on the order. This was the start of the issues. It was easier to buy another and have extra drink than go through the refund process because it seemed exhaustive. Half the aperol made it in the glass. Still at this stage it was semi entertaining. After 55 minutes of waiting I asked where the order was. The buzzer had not gone off. " someone else took your meal" I asked how. I have the buzzer. I asked where the ticket was. No ticket. The story then evolved to. "We had a technical issue, ticket is lost". Now my issue is lies. I've not traveled to the area on a pilgrimage to respect our fallen diggers to have staff in a French restaurant lie to us. Our accents had us stick out in the place and we were stared at continually which we don't mind but I did ask how with all the staring they hadn't wondered why we had no food. The manager doubled down on a series of lies when I asked to discuss it while I was avoided in favour of serving locals to avoid the discussion. We were offered a free desert, we declined because we wanted a nice fast meal to go to hotel to sleep. I see the management reply to all positive feedback with great enthusiasm but none on anything that isn't wholeheartedly...
Read moreWe visited the Italian Trattoria in Amiens and ordered two Bolognese pasta dishes at 18:16. The restaurant was far from full, yet our meals did not arrive until 19:00. In the meantime, we watched other tables — who had arrived after us — being served promptly.
At 18:40, I approached staff to enquire about the delay. It became clear that no one was aware of our order’s status until the chef checked the tickets and found ours at the very bottom of the pile. We were seated directly in front of the duty manager, yet he did not appear to notice that something was amiss.
When the dishes eventually arrived, the Bolognese sauce was disappointingly sparse in meat and lacked flavour. The lengthy, unexplained wait had already soured the experience, and the food unfortunately did nothing to redeem it.
In summary, a deeply disappointing visit — both in terms of service and quality — and not an experience I would be...
