Food: overall good flavours, the « naked burrito » lacked meat for the price we paid, tacos and quesadilla were good, I can’t speak for the authenticity because I’ve never been to Mexico but I enjoyed the meal.
Ambiance: bizarre, took 30 minutes to take our order, the man taking our order was nice enough.
Problem encountered: Using a commonly used restaurant application, my friend and I had a discount that was meant to be applied to the meal. (reminder that the restaurant itself chooses to put itself on this app,).
With this service, we can order from the a la carte menu (except for set menus and drinks). The definition of a la carte: « referring to food that can be ordered as separate items, rather than part of a set meal. ». We ordered an entree, meal, and a dessert, from the a la carte menu. No set meal.
When the time came to pay, it was shown that the owner had not applied the reduction to the entree and the dessert, stating that it was excluded. Even though I had used this application frequently, and had the discount applied to the dessert and entrees before. This isn’t even the reason why i am leaving a negative review yet.
When my friend discussed this problem with her initially calmly, showing the terms and conditions of the discount, she raised her voice at my friend and began shouting that we are thieves and we just want a free meal, and we want to use their hard work and profit from it. Repeatedly shouting that we can’t afford the meal, and that we just want to get a free meal is highly disrespectful. And shouting that we want to run away without paying, when we would never do that, is unacceptable.
The most weird thing continues where she says she will call the police, we say go ahead, and she instead calls someone else on the phone and has a lengthy discussion with them in Spanish- which I cannot understand. This is highly uncomfortable, as I have no idea what she could be saying about us or who she is talking to.
We instead call the police, and in the time we wait for them to arrive she tells us to just leave and not pay anything. Which of course we would not do, as we did not come to eat for free. Eventually we pay the agreed amount before the police arrived, and left without needing police intervention.
All in all, an unpleasant experience with the owner (I assume), too much shouting, too many insults at us, and dodgy behaviour. The other...
Read moreIn short: overpriced for small portions of bland food and sub par service. Would not recommend.
The chips & guacamole: was the smallest amount ( see photo) and overpriced for the size, but did have good flavor. The tacos: so, so very bland. No flavor. I ordered the tings poulet, and all I tasted was the lime I squeezed on it, the hot sauce and a bit of pico. Quite dissatisfying. Also, the tacos fell apart- for a taco shop, you would think they would double up the tortillas so you can eat them, but no. Each fell apart within 1-2 bites (see photo). The margarita- frozen only, not on the rocks- was good, and I did enjoy it. The service: I felt unwelcome, and extremely rushed. Holy cow. I received my tacos within five minutes of ordering… I didn’t come for fast food, so maybe they should change their setup. I had the tacos right away while I was eating my chips and guacamole, and felt rushed to eat them as I could tell they were only going to get more soggy. He came to clear my table within 30 minutes of me sitting down. Then, when I finally asked for my check, I was left sitting for 15+ minutes. I felt more rushed here than at a fast food restaurant. Not friendly either (but also not unfriendly, just- straight forward and rushed).
Perhaps the server was stressed (it seemed so) but when I walked in I was the only one, though two other groups came after.
All in all, I would...
