if you are a foreigner, be very careful. Do not step on this place at all. We ordered a table for 6 and sat down to have a beer while choosing what to eat. The beers were brought (hot as teas) and, a few minutes later, the waitress started asking what we were going to eat. we were talking and choosing, so it took a little longer. We noticed that she was anxious and pushing us, but we didn't care. Out of the blue, a nasty old woman came to our table and started being extremely rude and rude to us, demanding that we order right away. We asked if we could just drink for a while and then order and she said no! it's just outrageous! The place was completely empty, there were only two more tables. If you don't want to be mistreated and have a bad experience, NEVER GO TO “LA SALLE DES GARDES”. There are many other and better places. Definitely don't go to this place, they don't know how to treat customers they depend on...

Je cherchais un endroit où ils avaient un steak au menu et j'ai trouvé ce bijou. Quand je suis arrivé, j'ai été chaleureusement accueilli et j'ai eu la possibilité de m'asseoir entre deux endroits. J'ai choisi un endroit à l'origine, mais le serveur étaient assez gentils pour attirer mon attention qu'il pourrait pleuvoir et qu'il soit préférable de choisir l'autre endroit à l'abri du pluie. J'ai beaucoup apprécié cela car ça montre qu'ils tiennent à votre expérience culinaire. Une fois assis, j'ai choisi de boire un diablo et un Burrata comme entrée. Les serveurs sont même venus remplir mon pain sans que je demande ce qui était vraiment gentil. Ensuite, pour le plat principal, j'ai mangé un steak avec des frites et une salade sur le côté accompagné d'une bière allemande. J'aime généralement mes bières sombres, mais la recommandation des serveurs m'a agréablement surpris. J'ai aussi adoré leurs portion généreux. Il va sans dire que l'atmosphère était incroyable juste à côté du canal avec le personnel souriant et appréciant vraiment leur boulot. La seule chose qui m'a dérangé et ce n'est pas la faute du restaurant, le concept de pourboire ne semble pas exister dans la région. Je me sentais mal de ne pas montrer un signe d'appréciation après avoir reçu une si bonne nourriture et un si bon service, c'est pourquoi j'ai ajouté un pourboire en plus de tout ce qu'ils ont facturé. I was looking for somewhere where they had steak on the menu and found this gem. When I originally arrived i was warmly greeted and given the option between two places to sit. I originally chose one place but before playing me the waiters was nice enough to bring to my attention that it might rain so that it might be best to choose the other spot. I greatly appreciated that since it shows that they care about your experience. Once sitted I chose à diablo drink with Burrata to start off with. I have no complaints the waiters even came to refill my bread without me asking which was really kind of them. Then for the main dish I had steak with fries and salade on the side accompanied with a German beer. I generally like my beers dark but the waiters recommendation had me pleasantly suprised and enjoyed the beer. I also loved how they were generous on their portions. It comes without saying that the atmosphere was amazing right beside the canal with staff smiling and genuinely enjoying their job. The one thing that did bother me and it is not the restaurant fault, the concept of tip does not seem to exist in the region. I felt bad not showing some sign of appreciation after receiving such good food and service, which is why I added tip on top of whatever...

Came here based on the good reviews and someone’s comment that they have the best fondue - it’s true, they have the Best fondue!! We loved that the fondue was smooth and gooey, yet slightly bitter and had a complex taste that makes it not overbearing even after finishing the whole pot. You have to add the plate of charcuterie, and I’m not sure if it’s a blasphemy to do what we did, but try dipping the prosciutto in to fondue; it’s so heavenly! It was also a lovely surprise that they offered a huge plate of salad as part of the set, so you don’t feel as sinful with the meal 🥲
