Le Forum — Restaurant in Avignon

I felt compelled to write this review because I would want to know these things. I checked reviews and had planned to eat at a restaurant up the row from this one, however, my husband wasn’t feeling great and just wanted a salad. We sat down at the other place and ordered and they were out of salad?? (Seriously?) So we walked down the street checking menus and this was the only place open that served salad. We sat down and I immediately noticed my knife had been used and clearly never made it back the the kitchen to be washed. I switched it with one on the table next to ours. My husband’s fork had gone thru a dishwasher but wasn’t clean, so he traded for the one on the next table, which was dirtier. When the waiter came back he reset the table next to ours with the dirty silverware and I had to point out to him they were dirty. As we were eating, he passed by with someone’s meal and the spoon from the soup fell onto the ground under the table near us where he’d just seated a group. Keep in mind this is an outdoor cobblestone eating area which was NOT AT ALL clean. He served the person the soup, then came back, fished the spoon out from under the people’s feet, and took it to the guy who he’d just served. No joke. I watched the whole thing. While looking for a place to eat dinner and celebrate an anniversary, we were sort of lured in to Le Forum by a friendly waiter, who assured us this is the best restaurant in town with the best food. He was so wrong! He said the plate de jour that night was good - a steak with salad, fries and a desert for €17. We should have noticed there was no one else there - now we know why. The steak was a thin piece of hard, unchewable, inedible leather. The salad was a bit of lettuce on the plate. Instead of fries I ordered vegetables- what came was a small scoop of mush. After one bite of the leather, we returned it. They were shocked. How dare we? Manager came, took back the food and said choose something else from the menu. My wife chose a salmon dish, I chose an entrecôte done medium. It came raw. I asked for it to be cooked more, manager came and argued that that was medium. Really it wasn’t. We didn’t get the special prices, no desert, no apology, no one checked on us during the meal. Ik wil mijn diepe teleurstelling en ontevredenheid uiten over de recente ervaring die ik en mijn vier vrienden hadden bij Le Forum in Avignon. Helaas was onze culinaire ervaring verre van wat we hadden verwacht en voldeed het op geen enkele manier aan onze verwachtingen.

Ten eerste was de hygiëne in het restaurant ver ondermaats. De algehele staat van netheid was verontrustend, waardoor we ons ongemakkelijk voelden tijdens ons bezoek. Dit aspect is van cruciaal belang voor een eetgelegenheid en het was teleurstellend om te zien dat dit niet werd gehandhaafd.

Ten tweede was het gedrag van het personeel onacceptabel. We werden behandeld met onbeleefdheid en gebrek aan respect, wat onze eetervaring negatief beïnvloedde. Klantenservice is een essentieel onderdeel van een restaurantbezoek en het is jammer dat dit aspect ernstig tekortschoot.

Daarnaast ontdekten we tot onze afschuw een worm in een van de salades die we hadden besteld. Dit was ronduit weerzinwekkend en volledig onaanvaardbaar. De kwaliteit en versheid van de ingrediënten moeten een topprioriteit zijn in een restaurant, en dit incident liet ons met een gevoel van afkeer en zorg achter.

Om het nog erger te maken, waren er ernstige problemen met de bereiding van het vlees. Het vlees in de hamburger was rauw van binnen, wat een potentieel gezondheidsrisico met zich meebrengt. Bovendien werd de steak die een van ons had besteld niet bereid volgens de gevraagde cuisson. Dit was een grote teleurstelling, aangezien het correct bereiden van vlees een basisvaardigheid is die in een restaurant moet worden beheerst.

Al met al kan ik niet genoeg benadrukken hoezeer deze ervaring ons heeft teleurgesteld. Het is betreurenswaardig om te zien dat een restaurant dat zichzelf presenteert als een eetgelegenheid in Avignon, zo'n negatieve indruk heeft achtergelaten. Het is mijn oprechte hoop dat u deze kwesties serieus zult nemen en stappen zult ondernemen om de kwaliteit, hygiëne en klantenservice in uw restaurant te verbeteren.

Ik zal mijn ervaring delen op relevante recensiewebsites en sociale media, omdat ik van mening ben dat andere potentiële gasten op de hoogte moeten worden gebracht van wat wij hebben meegemaakt.
