Restaurant La Cour du Louvre — Restaurant in Avignon

We had the most horrible dinner experience at this restaurant during our two-week trip to France. AVOID AT ALL COST IF YOU CANNOT READ FRENCH! I ordered dinner à la cart (salmon ceviche and sea bas) which the owner said would cost 36 euros. My partner ordered salad Nicoise (18 euros). We also ordered a 50 ml Rosè (16 euros). The food was decent. HOWEVER, when we got the bill there was a line with the French word ‘boeuf’ which means ‘beef’. When my partner pointed this out to the owner (we thought she made an honest mistake), the owner started screaming at us, mostly in French, in front of all her guests (it is a relatively small dinning space). From the little English she used she said we are two people and we both use her toilet so we need to pay extra. Let me be clear - she never mentioned any minimum order and there was no signage stating the same. When we told her that she became more and more aggressive and was literally screaming her guts out. I politely told her I do not speak French and asked for the new bill. She reproduced a bill for 77 euros CHARGING US 5 EURIS FOR USING THE TOILETS (!!!). I paid to get out of there. When we tried to leave she blocked the door screaming profanities in French. We barely managed to leave the place. There are plenty restaurants with great food in Avignon. I would avoid this one...

i was visiting the south of France where I am from with my Canadian boyfriend. I have dual citizenship. We wanted to go this particular restaurant. We tried to call several times over two days. The voice mail was full. There was no way to reserve on line or no email address to be able to communicate with someone. We decided to show up hoping for the best. The person working that night did not come to greet us. She addressed us from afar telling us that there was no space. There was an empty table right beside us. We pointed it out to her. She totally dismissed us. I told her that we have been trying to reserve a table for few days but that we were unable to talk to anyone. That I was from Avignon and that I was hoping that she would do the right thing. She did not. She actually told my significant other that he could come back in half hour for coffee but that I was not welcome. I was very polite the whole time. What kind of restaurant makes this type of comments? I was actually ashamed of what she portrayed my country to be. Such a poor customer service. No basic respect. We ended up leaving and finding a much nicer restaurant with great food and customer service. I certainly would not recommend this restaurant. DO NOT BOTHER TO COME! I had the most horrible experience in my life.

The owner is the waiter. when I tried to pay the bill, I noticed that I was overcharged by her and I pointed it out. The receipt on the right is what she tried to charge. when we ordered the appetizer and the entree, it has a bundled price of 36 euro. but when we tried to pay the bill, she separated the two items and charged 17 euro extra!

I protested and said it was not fair. She then started yelling and shouting and even shut the door and tried to block me in her restaurant. I was so scared that I tried to call the police. In the end she went back to the original pricing after all the drama but she charged me 5 EURO for using the bathroom. She called this “REPAS CLIENTS” meaning client meal but she said this charge is for using the toilette. There were a roomful of people when this all happened. The receipts are attached. The right was the one I fought. The left was the one she in the end charged with 5 euro charge for using her toilet.

i told her that I will write a bad review. and I did a google review. I cannot believe she asked her friend to write a good review where she attacked me personally.
