Lovely Italian restaurant in the centre of Beaune. Can be quite difficult to find as it is towards the end of Rue Poterne and off the street in a little courtyard. It was very busy when we arrived there at 8.30 and waited about 15 minutes for a table to become available. It is a very small restaurant with a raised outside level for a few tables; we were lucky enough to sit here and our little dog was also welcomed. (Not unusual in France) The food was great - wonderful Parma ham salad started, which we shared having watched the chef slice it as and when we needed it. This was followed by a simple Margarita pizza, Veal Milanaise with spaghetti (tomato sauce served separately) and a salad. The food absolutely hit the spot after all the rich food we had had for the previous 2 weeks. We also bought a large jar of their pesto, having asked for a taste first, as it is expensive. Only one problem - a cat! Cat kept jumping up on one of the outside tables and lying across it, terrifying a little boy who was eating there with his family. The cat was eventually shopped away, but the table was not wiped down afterwards!!! Do not go here in busy times and expect a fast food restaurant as there are only 3 people running the show. Go There, relax, have a drink and be patient. We were and had a good time, chatting and making friends with the chef...
Read moreCalled the restaurant to book a reservation for tonight and were confirmed for 8:30 pm indoors for two people. Went to the restaurant and the owners ignored us for 10 minutes while we waited outside, only to be informed that there was only room for us outside (it was about to rain, too), no room inside at all. Restaurant looked like a dumpy hole-in-the-wall location, definitely not up to the standards of other restaurants in the Beaune central area. The Owners got upset with us once we decided to walk away to find somewhere else to eat. Moral of the story: don’t tell customers you have room for them and then treat them like garbage when they come to give you business....
Read moreThis restaurant on a quiet side street has a good neighbourhood feel to it, and was busy with both locals and tourists. The atmosphere is casual and relaxed, although if we hadn't booked when walking by an hour beforehand, I think we might have had a problem...or a poor table location.
Service was friendly and quite okay, though a bit slow at times.
A decent wine list and choice by the glass. An average pizza Siciliene, nothing wrong, but not particularly interesting either. And a spaghetti arrabiata for my partner, with which she was not wildly happy
Pleasant enough place, but I wish they could do a little better...
