Le Grand Café de Lyon — Restaurant in Beaune

Full disclosure right away- the only reason I gave two stars was to reflect the beautiful location of Beaune & perfect weather on the day of our unfortunate experience. We ordered a Cesar salad & were served something that was not even close to that (please see the first photo). When I inquired about the dish, I was told it was definitely Cesar “ because it had chicken in it). By the way I completely agree with the previous review that grumpiness is felt not just seen in this cafe. Then we ordered our dinner, beef & chicken. We waited 40 minutes (I’m guessing this was our punishment for questioning the Cesar recipe) - the rest of guests who came with us were long gone. The chicken was okay but my Cote de Boeuf was absolutely not chewable- I left most of it on the plate. But what’s interesting is that the garlic butter was so frozen that it stayed in the same shape until the rest of our dinner. (please see the second photo). Came here for a light lunch and was greeted by grumpy staff but the atmosphere was pleasant. Watching the other guests who were clearly regulars made for interesting entertainment. The coffee was average but the snack was tasty enough. Cute how one guy brought his dog in for a cuppa and sat next to him on the couch. Food turned up with no curtley and condiments. Asked waiter after two minutes and asked if we could have this as the food was getting cold. He said okay. Waited 8 minutes and the waiter walked past us and served other customers. Ended up walking over and getting our own cutlery. Food was now stone cold. Another waiter came and collected the food and said she saw we went over to get the cutlery. No discount or apology and I would stay away from this...
