Mazal — Restaurant in Bordeaux

This place came highly recommended but was a disappointment for us. The food was OK but the service was extremely slow. We had to wait over 40 minutes just to get our cocktails and saw people arriving later being served. In general, not matching the value for the money paid.

The staff were informed in advance and reminded during the evening that it was my friend's birthday and had promised a surprise candle, but still seemed to forget. They were very nice but I guess understaffed as everything was super slow.

In general, we weren't impressed with either the food or the drinks. What disappointed us was the time we had to wait and the forgotten birthday surprise.

Although it was nice that at the end of the night they brought out cold fireworks and offered all the guests a shot.

My fiancé and I went to Mazal for our ten year anniversary. As a queer couple that has often in our lives had to mute our celebrations, we we were not disappointed! Special thanks to Arie who sat us at the bar where we got to watch the chefs do magic. We had two glass of champagne each and it was delicate and had notes of pear. We were given the option of the tasting menu, usually reserved for parties of four. We had the most delicious brioche bread paired with lebnah and humus, oysters, the best octopus dish with a creative touch of tomatoes and strawberries, and our requested carpaccio. At the end, we were surprised with a dedicated dance song and the light turned down with a disco-like atmosphere and our own personal sparklers. Mazel is a real breath of fresh air in a City where there is always another customer around the corner. They have an imaginative and fusion approach to offering a really good night out. Would be 5 stars but the portions are a bit mean and we were perched on a ledge for our meal where any second there was a chance that food would fall crashing into the basement at any point.
