Of course the brunch is fantastic, but She and Him has something special - two rare gems on the menu. The first gem was new to me, the gateau mille-crepes, which is either a small slice of heaven or a deeply gratifying sin. Try it and decide for yourself. The second gem, an authentic Cuban sandwich, is one I've grown up with and know well. For the uninitiated, when it's done correctly the Cuban is the royalty of sandwiches, complete with a Hollywood movie script (go see Chef). It's a very difficult sandwich to get right, from the ingredients to how you prepare it, so outside of Miami and Tampa (the salami added version also works) it is almost always a "fracaso," an utter failure. Not dog friendly and not people friendly either. Walked across town with visiting friends just to try the pancakes, only to be told that dogs aren't allowed. I was surprised and disappointed and said as much. I bring my dogs to almost every restaurant and shop in Bordeaux and don't have problems elsewhere. Thankfully this is usually a very dog friendly city. The woman (probably the owner as she was American) had a nasty attitude. She suggested I tie them up outside on a dirty street with lots of cars. She also made a fuss about a sign on her door but the door was open so we could not read it. In any case, I was not trying to force my dogs into her shop or anything.
