Chez Débo — Restaurant in Boulogne-sur-Mer

Good food. Prices are not the cheapest but they do serve it in quality. We had the planche a partage and it was delicious and plenty. For me it was the steak tartare. It was good but due to the herbs and ketchup mixed in it, it was hard to taste the frechness of the meat, wich is so important in steak tartare. Im not saying it was not fresh, but you couldnt taste it.

The owner was very nice to us and the children. The service lady however not so. We dont speak perfect french but we noticed she didnt even try to understand us. What bothered me most was when at the end of the evening we had to put our son in the corner because he wasnt listening. Then suddenly the service lady appeared and screamed towards my son 'dont touch the cake!'. I was suprised because he gave no indication whatsoever that he was interested in the cake... The way she said it was full of anger and frustration. Right before she said that we gave the owner a tip because of a broken glass, he was very nice, but because of the service ladies reaction we left the restaurant with a very bad feeling.

Normaly i would give a much lower score then 4 stars for such anger towards a small child, but it seems unfair towards the owner.

Conclusion: good restaurant, but please, talk to your service lady about her attitude...

The lady who served us was excellent in spite of the language barrier. My starter of chorizo and cheddar bun was ok if a little overpowering in taste. My wife didn't like her shrimp croquettes. My wife's moules mariniere was ok although the mussels were small. My burger Debo was not nice and I couldn't finish it. The cheese was too strong and not like any I've had before. The fries that accompanied both dishes were greasy and dirty looking. My wife's mojito had just a little mint in it and tasted nothing like a mojito. On a Thursday evening the restaurant was empty apart from a group of men drinking outside. I can't say I'm surprised.

The restaurant replied petulantly to my review, saying the plates came back empty - this is incorrect. We didn't complain because it wouldn't help with the standard of cooking. As they said, cheddar comes from my country, I have been eating it for over 60 years, that was not like the...

Nous avons malheureusement été vraiment déçus... Les burgers étaient peu garnis : un steak, le fromage et un peu de sauce. J'ai été étonné de ne pas voir de salade, tomate etc. dedans. La salade est proposée sur le côté, peut-être est-ce pour ne pas forcer les gens à la manger dans le burger. Les frites étaient plutôt bonnes mais très grasses et huileuses. Le burger aussi : le pain semblait gras et huileux. La portion servie est toutefois généreuse.

Nous avons trouvé le prix des burgers cher pour le rapport qualité/prix.

Enfin, nous avons été déçus du faible choix de burgers : seulement trois à la carte. Il y a toutefois chaque jour semble-t-il de nouveaux plats du jour, peut-être sommes-nous tombés sur un jour qui ne nous satisfaisait pas... Il y avait un burger en plat du jour ; le choix au total (4) nous semblait donc faible, sachant qu'il n'y a pas d'accompagnements dans les burgers.

Bref, pour ce qui est du repas, ce n'était pas mauvais, bien sûr, mais rien d'extraordinaire, surtout pour le prix...
