In December 2017, my partner and I took my daughter-in-law and grandson here as a treat before they returned to Britain. The food was bordering on inedible. In fact, my partner's steak was! He was served up a lump of bone and gristle with a tiny piece of meat in among the mass. He complained and he was offered another. However, he had lost his appetite by then and my 2 year old grandson was becoming restless. My meal wasn't much better: I had hard salmon and soft rice. I would hazard a guess that they had both been treated to a go in the microwave. My daughter-in-law barely touched her pate. My grandson was the only one who enjoyed his (microwaved?) sausage and beans. The owners took 10% off the total bill, but my partner argued that he would prefer they took the steak off the amount instead. The owners threatened to phone the police, in fact the woman did to show her threat wasn't a front. My partner paid the bill and I took some photos of the restaurant. Both the woman who waited on us and the owner were well versed and unconcerned about our complaint. In France, if you enter a restaurant you have to pay for what you ordered even if it is inedible. I will never return to Auberge...
Read moreVery poor experience. Extremely long wait for service, ignored by staff and no water brought to table for well over 20 minutes on a close to 40 degree heat, fans entirely ineffective. Once our order was finally taken they seemed disgusted that one child, from a group of 9, would not be ordering food and unhappy that he ate some of the bread eventually brought to the table. Food was overpriced, even given the location, €9.50 for a 'seasonal salad' consisting of only lettuce and half a cherry tomato. Soft drinks extremely expensive. Children's menu promised a surprise that never arrived but after such a long meal and unpleasant experience we didn't pursue this. We have been back to Carcassonne a number of times during our holiday and have had much better...
Read moreThe restaurant offers multiple dinner menus with various options. I started with a delicious onion soup, and for the main course, I had the entrecote steak. The steak was good, but I've had better. I was expecting a bit more flavor-wise, hence the 4-star rating. On a more positive note, the cheese platter I had for dessert was fantastic! The selection included high-quality French cheeses. The restaurant also boasts a good wine list. The atmosphere was absolutely charming. The restaurant is housed in a very old stone building, creating a cozy and inviting ambiance. The staff was friendly and attentive as well. Overall, I enjoyed my experience at this restaurant. While the steak wasn't the best I've had, the onion soup, cheese platter, and overall atmosphere...
