The worst restaurant experience I've ever had. There are multiple things to be said about this horrible place.

As mentioned in older reviews, the waitresses/chefs are extremely rude towards foreigners (we were 2 european couples on a holiday trip on the French Riviera). They don't even try to seem nice, they act in an "ok, now order already" manner. Also, they took ages to bring a simple dessert menu to my girlfriend.

But, this is almost irrelevant when compared to what comes next. Me and my friends ordered 3 of the €26 entrecote steaks. 2 of us had it medium rare, and one ordered it medium. In the picture below you can see how they looked like. All of them looked like this, there was no "medium" or "medium rare". Absolutely horrible. There was 0 crust and the doneness level was between blue rare and rare. Disgusting. This is literally the first and easiest dish a chef should learn how to cook and they failed miserably.

But that's not all! For the first time in my life, I called the waitress/chef to tell them that the dish was unacceptable. All of us were fuming and we couldn't understand how a place rated 4.5 on Google Maps could be so bad at this. The waitress came over, I told her what was going on, showed her the steak, she acknowledged it was rare instead of what we asked for (I would honestly say it was blue rare) and then, without even apologizing, told me she could put it on the grill for 2 more minutes. That was it. No excuses, nothing, just a very arrogant attitude. I passed on this offer.

Now, if I was managing a restaurant, when something like this happened, I would at least have the decency to remove those items from the final bill. But they didn't. They just behaved like nothing happened. They literally ruined our evening and made us pay for it. I went into this place happy and excited and left hoping I'd never see the faces of those...

UPDATE: Just visited again 3 years later, and I'm happy to say that it's just as good as in my original review.

ORIGINAL: Let me preface this review by saying that I am certainly no expert in French cuisine, though I certainly do know good food. This restaurant exceeded all of my expectations the first night I went there, it did so again the second night, and I was supremely disappointed to find out that I could not visit a third or fourth time, as my trip to the area ended on a Monday.

The menu, although short, was quite broad, and accommodated a wide variety of tastes. All dishes I ordered were not only flavored well and cooked correctly, but also well-constructed.

The atmosphere was lively without being obtrusive, and the restaurant benefits from being an extra couple blocks from La Croisette in that it does not seem to be obnoxiously busy. Prices are also very reasonable, and I felt I received much more than I paid. The service is excellent, and I greatly appreciated the two waitresses who went out of their way to work with my severe inability to speak French.

If you're in the area, definitely give Bistro Les...

We really love this place, and now consider it one of our favorites. Now that the city will not allow outdoor heaters in the winter, we especially love it in the winter because it's one of the few restaurants that we love the interior more than the exterior, it's spacious and well decorated. The food is always fabulous, sometimes the service is a little slower than the average restaurant, but yet rushed a bit when you order, but I think it's just because they are busy, not because they aren't trying. The food and the wine are very well priced, the specials are always good, and it's always consistent! If I were to critique, I would only say the filet was barely, slightly overdone and the Iles flottantes was a bit too stiff, but the flavors were still good! It is now our Go To, especially in the high season when we want to get away from the crowds, as it is "off the beaten path". We always order something different, and it's always good but we especially love the escargots in crispy shells....

Excellent bistro cooking—exactly what you hope for when you walk into a place like this. Problem: one server who acted like we were personally ruining her day just by sitting down. Made us want to leave before we even ordered, which is heartbreaking when the kitchen is this good. The other staff were friendly and on point—makes you wonder how this one slipped through. Solid food held hostage by attitude. Fix the front of house.
