We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Athenee and would stay there again. It's not fancy, the rooms are simple, but an effort has been made in the decor (our room was the Matisse room with Matisse on the walls, which was nice). The beds are nice and comfy and it's on a quiet street, so I got great sleeps. The location is great, just a block from Rue D'Antibes and close to great restaurants. The breakfast was great and I can't possibly say enough about the warmth and helpfulness of the two lovely owners. Pascal even had a taxi (more like a town car) sent to pick us up at the airport and drop me off at the Palais because I had a meeting shortly after we landed. He repeated over and over to the driver to make sure I was on time for my meeting (on that note Henri, the driver is also a gem!). My only suggestion to the owners would be to warn us North American travelers not to take too long of a shower (if there's two of us) because the hot water tanks are smaller than we're...
Read moreI stayed in Apartment No 2 in Gambetta Square in Cannes for a business conference, very central, overlooking a lovely local market. The apartment is owned by Valerie and Pascal who run the Hotel Athenee nearby. They are fantastic hosts, very kind and generous. The breakfasts at the Hotel Athenee are excellent, very French as you would expect, with lovely coffee. ||||The apartment has 2 bedrooms, one ensuite with a great shower, the other with its own separate bathroom. The beds are comfortable and the apartment is very clean and well equipped. There is a Carrefour supermarket about 60 metres down the road and next to that is a wonderful boulangerie and patisserie with baguettes for 1 Euro and lovely filled baguettes (NB, closed on a Monday).||||The beach is about 7 minutes away on foot, very easy to get to. I loved this place and if you love Italian food you are spoiled for choice (great French bistros of...
Read moreA 3 star hotel in the middle of Cannes. We stayed for 10 wonderful days in The hotel is very well situated, close to everything. There is a daily flea market 5 minutes away. All types of restaurants, pubs etc are very near. Carolle and Laurent are very friendly hosts. The best I have encountered in our trips around the world. It was a pleasure staying at their hotel. Always ready to help if you have a problem. Great people and great hotel. The pictures on their web site are a true reflection of the hotel. For a 3 star hotel I would give a rate of 4 out of 5. The "Plage Long Beach " is 10 min away, walking and the quai du Large where the boats to Saint Tropez and the Isles depart 20...
