When we returned recently, I wondered if it would still hold the same magic—but the moment we stepped through the door, I knew. Nothing had changed. Pascal and Alison are the kind of hosts who make you feel like family. Their passion for what they do shines through in every detail, from the welcoming atmosphere to the carefully curated selection of wines. And then there’s Alison’s cooking—pure comfort food, made with so much love. Every bite is nourishing, like something your family would cook for you when you need a little extra care.

You must try the steak with pepper sauce—perfectly cooked, rich, and flavorful, it’s the kind of dish that makes you slow down and savor every bite. And whatever you do, don’t leave without trying the tarte tatin! It’s golden, caramelized, and just the right balance of sweet and buttery—a true taste of indulgence.

My recent dinner at La Cave was a fantastic experience, with a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. Pascal and Aleson warmly welcomed us and ensured we had a wonderful table.

When the staff have a second service reservation however, they will rush and hurry you.

We were kindly given bread, but no oil & balsamic and no butter. Cutlery was taken for the starters to prepare for the main, told new knives were coming, but no. The butter for the bread arrived fifteen minutes later, with no cutlery to butter the bread. (Back of a spoon was improvised)

This is understandable, but when asked for a dessert to go. To be told it's not possible and then to be told that yes service is included, but that you need to pay a tip on top of the already included service.

It makes you wonder if it's worth being pushed around.

So, the food was great and the service was irritating with simple things...
