It was another steamingly hot day on the Cannes waterfront and I was desperately seeking sustenance but too lightheaded to figure out where to eat amongst the many harborside options. My steadfast travel partner urged me to use my first instincts and I'm grateful I followed her advice because it led me to the perfect meal I didn't even know I wanted at L'Assiette Provençal. First the starters - 1) impossibly lightly fried and airy fried zucchini flower blossoms, and 2) the most completely satisfying ceviche I've ever eaten - super-fresh sea bass in a sweet and savory acidic marinade with shallots and cherry tomatoes that melted in my mouth like umami-packed thunderclouds. Spectacular. Then for the entrees - perfectly seared tuna tatami crusted in sesame and pink peppercorns and again a little sweetness, alongside impeccably grilled baby butter lettuce heads that I would eat each day of my life if I could. Second was described as a typical baked goat-cheese and honey salad that was anything but typical. Perfect greens, wonderful simple dressing, and above all the baked goat cheese was not the bland white garden variety, but a musky aged rinded goat cheese that worked perfectly with everything else. Finishing up was a daringly intense lavender crème brûlée and a classic pavlova featuring the most perfect and intensely flavored fresh strawberries I've ever encountered. The party began as soon as my tongue touched the outside of these magical bursts of joy. This meal was a revelation when I needed it the most. Thank you to the friendly folks who served me this spectacular meal.

Dreadful - we’ve been coming here for years - at least once a week during our month long holidays in Cannes - clearly under new ownership - the lady serving was friendly enough and smiley but the male didn’t smile once and threw a full ice bucket over a neighbouring table - we heard no apologies no rush to assist ! Food was basic and limited with prices much higher - wine was worse only one choice of rose which when I asked if it was very dry was told no just medium - no option to taste or try - sweet potato with the fish was vile clearly sweetened ruining what was perfectly good fish. Dessert again very limited and dumped on the table by the man - no words of enjoy etc. Appalling customer service. Best part of meal crème brûlée - my husband’s tiramisu was super basic- No choice of 2 or 3 courses anymore - tablecloths only on one table - no toilet seat on the loo and wet floor - these new owners are clearly running on the previous owners wonderful service and reputation - avoid at all costs - awful- actually really awful

We loved the food, a bit less the service and the atmosphere of the restaurant. Overall this is a great choice. That’s essential to reserve in advance. You will be seated either outside or in the limited space inside. Big positive note is that you can have a nice set menu for around 40 euros and it’s definitely worth it. The quality of the food is high and they have a nice presentation of the plates. We loved our fish food, including the soup, the salmon and the octopus. The desserts were also very good. We didn’t like the vibe, the owners and the waiters were constantly running and seemed very stressed. Also they were not really paying attention to customers. Inside, there was no AC and we didn’t enjoy being seated in front of a fridge. I would go again but specifying to be seated outside.

It is always tricky to follow the reviews for vegetarians but this place got such good reviews overall that we thought we would try it given it was pouring with rain and we were a two min walk from the restaurant.

Two out of three of us are vegetarian and felt it would work as they had 3-4 dishes on the menu. We ordered beetroot and goat cheese ravioli thinking it was warm. But it turned out to be a cold salad that was a beetroot carpaccio with some goat cheese inside. Not clear on the menu.

There was one vegan dish on the menu so I asked the waiter what it comprised of. He told me it was like a ratatouille, which I like. So I ordered it but it turned out that it was just some steamed vegetables and the kind of the vegetables were completely different from what he mentioned. It was quite tasteless as well.

The service is terrible as the waiters don’t seem to know the food they are serving and the taste is very ordinary plus the menu does not offer clear...
