If there were more stars I would give them! This local gem boasts the most delicious traditional Italian food. Off on a quite side street you'll usually find two small tables on the curb side guiding you in. Walking through the door you transport straight to Italy from the decor to the chef.
I have treated myself to coming here a few times and it never disappoints. The chef cooks everything so well from the al dente pasta to the rare steak and the grilled octopus... Oh the grilled octopus! Probably my favorite thing on the menu (beside the once in a blue moon roasted lamb dish for 2 or the seafood platter for 2 lol) What I'm trying to say is, you really can't go wrong. I do recommend going there hungry. The portion size is quite large no matter the dish. It's a meal you go home and take siesta afterward ;) The menu selection is really wonderful along with the large selection wines you are able to pair your meal with.
La Trattoria has the most wonderful atmosphere. Almost as wonderful as the woman who runs it. She and the wait staff are just the sweetest. If you're lucky every once in a while you'll get to hear the chef singing in the back while he is pouring his love into the food.
I'm a bit disappointed that I got so excited for my food, even though I have ordered the grilled octopus before, lol, that I forgot to take a photo. So, I'm attaching an old photo that I took one of the times before when we ordered the slow roasted lamb for two. It arrives at the table, and in front of you, the waiter separates the lamb meat as it just falls off the bone. They don't always have this dish, so keep an eye out for it.
We'll be back! I recommend you give...
Read more10 out of 10! It was one of the best dining experiences I've had in Europe in recent years. Octopus with eight legs. I ate until I had six legs left. Crisp on the outside and tender on the inside. The brain of an octopus has a taste like tofu and jelly. And the service attitude of the staff in this restaurant is very good. Since my French was not good, the owner's mother brought me the menu and asked me what I wanted to eat. The owner asked me if I wanted an apron, and I said no, and he said, "Are you sure?" I just realized and said “I need it”! Finally, halfway through the meal, I was so full that I had a lot of food left , so I asked the owner if I could take away. The owner's mother went in to pack for me. I wanted to pay 0.2 euros extra for a 0.2 euros coin to take the bus, but the owner gave it to me without extra fee. I'm really touched because this is my second year abroad alone. Having studied abroad for so long, I have encountered many difficulties. I burst into tears right in front of the owner when he gave me the coin. He asked me, "Are you ok?" . Of course! I'm Ok! I really like the food and atmosphere of this restaurant. Everything is fine! I would go back a second time because this is a restaurant where the food is good and the staff takes their customers friendly. Thanks for your meal,...
Read moreBest dinner I have ever had in Antibes/southern France!!
This place was recommended to us by a local, who said that it was great food at a decent price and he was right!! We arrived quite early (19:10 ish) so we were the only once there, the waiter welcomed us, very chilled guy, but on it from the second we sat down, and was very fair with his wine suggestions, tried to sell us based on taste instead of selling us the most expensive bottle. The menu is quite small (appx 10 dishes covering both starters and mains) of which 3 were daily specials. We started off by ordering two starters to share, of some dried ham (not the traditional Parma ham) and tomatoes with mozzarella, while we were eating we could hear the chef cooking our mains in the background, while singing a few French songs. The mains arrived and they were amazing, perfectly cooked and so tasteful. By now I'm assuming you are getting the picture, the food is amazing, atmosphere great and price very decent. If you are in the area, you have to visit this...
