Vinh Phat — Restaurant in Grasse

Maybe I was unlucky but I was underwhelmed. Particularly by the salt and pepper prawns which came in a batter. Not only were they not properly seasoned but the prawns had not been shelled so you ended up with a nasty ball of mush to leave on the side of the plate. When I complained I was told that this is how they are served. I was a contributing editor of a food magazine for 10 years and a restaurant inspector for the Good Food Guide. This is not how you serve prawns. Vinh phat is overpriced and the portions are small. I am hardly surprised the place was empty on the two recent occasions I visited, on a Bank Holiday weekend when everywhere...

J'ai eu la chance de trouver ce restaurant à Cannes. La nourriture est absolument délicieuse et le propriétaire est très joyeux et enthousiaste. J'ai essayé les fruits de mer sautés et cela a dépassé toutes mes attentes : les fruits de mer étaient frais, parfumés et incroyablement savoureux. Il y a de nombreux autres plats ici, mais j'ai été tellement impressionné par celui-ci que je suis revenu le soir même et j'ai commandé exactement la même chose. D'habitude, je n'ai pas de grandes attentes, car la saveur des plats asiatiques n'est souvent pas exceptionnelle à l'étranger. Cependant, ce restaurant m'a complètement surpris par sa saveur exquise. Même au Vietnam, je n'avais jamais mangé un plat aussi délicieux ; c'est vraiment excellent, même pour le palais d'une personne asiatique comme moi. 5 étoiles sont amplement méritées pour ce restaurant vietnamien, tant pour la qualité que pour l'attitude. ————————— I was lucky to find this restaurant in Cannes. The food is absolutely delicious and the owner is very cheerful and enthusiastic. I tried the stir-fried seafood and it exceeded all my expectations: the seafood was fresh, fragrant, and incredibly flavorful. There are many other dishes here, but I was so impressed with this one that I returned the same evening and ordered exactly the same thing again. Usually, I don't set high expectations because the flavor of Asian dishes is often not exceptional abroad. However, this restaurant completely surprised me with its exquisite taste. The worst pho soup I ever had in my life was at Vinh Phat. I’ve had delicious Vietnamese food many times before. The soup didn’t taste like pho at all. It tasted like a soup made from beef bouillon cube and some noodles and beef. Not a pho soup that involves cooking with beef for many hours - absolutely not.
