La Scala Siciliana — Restaurant in Lyon

I visited Lyon for a few days, and my hotel was close to this restaurant. I went there for dinner around 7:30 pm and asked if there was a table for two. Since my French isn’t great, I asked in English. The waiter replied in a very unfriendly and unwelcoming manner, saying they were fully booked and only had availability at 9:00 pm ; however I could clearly see a few empty tables outside.

I said okay and left. But after a few minutes, we decided to go back and reserve for 9:00 pm anyway, as we were too tired to look elsewhere. When the waiter saw we were willing to book despite the earlier interaction, he suddenly said there were two seats available right away , the same ones that had been free a few minutes earlier.

It didn’t feel right. I honestly felt that we were treated differently because we weren’t French or European. It seemed like the waiter just wanted to dismiss us, and only changed his mind when we insisted.

In the end, we stayed and had dinner. The food was good but the way we were treated by the waiter really ruined the experience. To me how you treat your customers is more important...

I had a fantastic experience at La Scala Siciliana! From the moment I arrived, the service was warm and welcoming. Raul was my waiter and he was awesome – very friendly, polite, and attentive throughout the meal.

The food was simply excellent. I ordered a pizza, and I have to say it was one of the best I’ve ever had – and that includes pizzas I’ve eaten in Italy! The ingredients were clearly high-quality, the flavors were spot on, and the crust was perfection.

The restaurant itself is clean and inviting, and the overall atmosphere is relaxed yet professional. Considering the quality of both the food and service, the prices are very reasonable for Lyon.

10/10 – I will definitely be...

The food is rather good but I think there are other places offering better balance in term of quality of food/atmosphere. What disappointed the most was the atmosphere : extremely crowded, felt like we were eating at the same table as the neighbors, bad choice of music, the delivery business is way too present for a restaurant, the waiters are also kind of loud.
