La Trattoria du Palais — Restaurant in Nice

A huge disappointment. I used to come to this place years ago, and saying that it has drastically changed, for the worse, is an understatement.

To begin with, we ordered a virgin mojito and the waiter came back with some fruity cocktail instead. After telling him that it is not what we ordered, his reaction was "what was I thinking, we don't even have mojito anyway", and left. Not even offering to take it back or even asking if we were Ok with it. The guy looked completely stoned, so maybe that was that. We asked for bread alongside our starters. 3 times. Then the mains come, I ordered a medium rare steak. It came raw. Showed it to the waiter, he just took it without saying a word looking at me as if I was disturbing his high. Second time was perfectly cooked though. Both my mum and partner ordered pasta. Both were barely Ok. Then coffee. I ask for an americano but without too much water. It came black in the cup. As in, without any foam, which my mum's normal coffee had. So what they did is simply drop some off the cup after it was made.

The whole service and attitude, for a table that takes starters, mains, dessert, coffee and some drinks, (not saying a table to order less should be treated any differently, but com'on, know your job!) was terrible.

Stay away from this place. It has become a tourist trap and not worth it at all.

This must be my first ever negative review on the internet. I never bother doing so. But this place truly...

SHOCKING EXPERIENCE !!!! TERRIBLE MANAGEMENT TEAM !

We Sat 4 of us for dinner and the waiter who greeted us was really nice and polite but that’s about it ! Ordered a bottle of wine , 1 salad , 1 pizza and 4 Pasta mains ( 3 fruti Di mare , 1 gamberoni ) ! WITHIN 7 minutes the whole meals was on front of us ???!!! I am 10 years experienced chefs and there’s no way in hell , you’d get ready fresh meals for 4 people in that space of time unless reheated or microwave ?! FOOD WAS TERRIBLE ! Salad - no dressing , no seasoning , bland! Mozzarella looked like it had been taken out of the juice last month and tasted rubbery! 4 pastas - all dry , no sauce , weird taste ! 1 of my mates refused to eat the pasta and asked for pizza instead ! Waiter literally went inside and came back with the pizza on her hand ?!! For a min we thought the chef is a mind reader ! The worse part is yet to come ! We said to the waiter , we will pay for everything but we want to give the feedback to the manager about our experience! MANAGER REFUSED TO COME TO THE TABLE AND ASKED THAT WE PAY THE BILL ! Working in the hospitality industry for quite some time and this is UNHEARD!

We really didn’t wanna make a scene as we came to enjoy a weekend out but what a shocker experience ! Paid in full and left ! I must say the waiter was very apologetic about the experience though !

If you know what’s good for you , AVOID...

Recently came here with my family during our vacation. My mom and I came here the first day of our 4 days in Nice and everything was great: the food and our waitress were wonderful. We decided to come back with my brother and dad on our 3rd day because we enjoyed the place so much. The food wasn’t as good this time around but that was besides the point. Everything went great until it was time to pay the bill. Our waiter (did not give us his name) came with the check and said “just so you know tip is not included”. As someone who has travelled to Europe many times with my European parents, even I know tipping is not a thing here, and we didn’t have that same experience the first time we came to this restaurant. We did not tip as the bill even said tip/service was included. My dad walked out and our waiter came back to scream at us saying “thank you so much for your service, so kind, thanks so much”. He then proceeded to swear at my mom. He walked back and forth past our table multiple times to yell at us. Super unnecessary and disappointing knowing he was just trying to get extra money...
