Sacré bleu, that didn't just happen. I made a reservation to the restaurant a month prior to the dinner, everything was confirmed and OK. After reading great reviews we were looking forward to dining there as it's close to our hotel and it would've been our 10th wedding anniversary dinner.
Fast forward a couple of weeks to present time: 1,5 weeks before the reservation I get an email saying my booking is cancelled! Without any explanation or reason given why. So I call to the restaurant and they say they're closed on that day. Excusez-moi? Even as I write this review their own website says "fully booked" on that particular day, instead of "closed" like eg. following day. I find it hard to believe that they'd be closed on a high-season Friday with such a short notice. You can bet that I'll be passing by next week to find that out.
It makes me wonder. Maybe we got cancelled because we aren't french? Who knows, maybe they are closed but cancelling reservations 1,5 week before the reservation sounds suspicious and it's unforgivable for an establishment of this caliber. I'm now trying struggling to find a substitute for the busiest time of the year!
Food there might be good but we'll never find out. I can only assess the service as I've been served with a stinking pile of (fill in a word). You might want to reconsider before booking with them, unless you want to make a back up...
Read moreReally nice restaurant, as one might expect in a district with art galleries. I was wandering around and walked in because I liked what I saw on the menu. It rotates so undoubtedly what you get will vary. I didn't quite catch all the descriptions of the dishes, so apologies in advance if I got anything wrong.
Starter was a delightfully poached piece of smoked fatty pork with what seemed like octopus suckers sprinkled on top for a taste of the sea. For the main, I had red curry rabbit. Meat was tender and hardly needed any cutting but not dry, which is difficult to pull off with a meat as lean as rabbit. Southeast Asian flavoring tasted familiarly authentic - blended and harmonious. Pickled ginger(?) on the side serves as a great. Dessert was grapefruit with vanilla cream on a biscuit and rose ice cream on the side. I thought the rose flavoring slightly too heavy vs the sweetness, but it's just a personal preference.
Service was excellent; regulars and waitstaff greet each other like old friends. Price is on the higher end of the scale (~60 euros for 3 courses and a glass of wine), but quite good value. A great choice if you wanted to impress a date or special guests. Would not be surprised if this place got a Michelin star...
Read moreI am very disappointed by the place. I noticed two red drops, one on the gray table and one on the dark, empty plate. I wiped it with the white tissue and the stain was bright red, looked like a blood. I was still hoping that it was some kind of syrup... So i started to look closely at each dish that was brought to us, the menu was small and no bright red thing was inside of the food. There were two main courses only on the menu and we took them both, two deserts which contained lemons and the other with some yellow and white ingredients ,so nothing whith bright, bloody like red thing. So then I looked at the waiters, and bingo! One of them had an adhesive bandage on the finger on his right hand. I explained the issue to another waiter and he was obviously covering for the other waiter as he said that there were flies flying around. What flies? Seriously he could have thought about some better excuse. Anyway, good place who likes unhygenic...
