Choice of stuff is fairly good Changing this review from 2019. So choice of stuff is still good if somewhat lacking to what I remember when I left this review. Anyway so picked up our daughter after school, we had to pick up a parcel at a relay place which is next to the vegan place. For once it was totally empty! So we suggested to have cake with her. We go in, lovely service from a girl, order cakes and a latte. I go around the shop soaking in what I've missed in 3 years. Ps I boycotted the place for them refusing to refund a pair of jeans, but that's another story. Surprised to see not so many mock meats that used to be there and there's a bad odour at the back of the shop, my daughter even held her nose. Anyway, I take my time, grab the items, chat to the girl who served us, pay. Food is still not on table, daughter getting restless. It's been almost 15 minutes. I ask another server, and she gets a bit edgy saying it hasn't been 15 minutes. Anyway my cake arrives but we wait another 5 minutes for our daughters! 20 minutes for 3 cakes and the place is empty. The latte was tiny (I paid 5âŹ) too. We eat, and eventually we head out, I say 'bye', no reply. Then a guy chases us down the street, 'you didn't pay' ! Eh? We go back in, we say we were served by the girl (who was nice) but she's nowhere to be seen, my partner couldn't be sure if she did. They insist, so we pay (we'll find out tomorrow looking at bank if we did pay or not). Anyway, I ask the girl behind counter (tall with piercings, not very pleasant) 'are you sure?' and she says 'yes'. OK fine, we leave, I say with a smile 'Au revoir', The girl just nods, no smile as if super pissed. So I reply 'it' s nice to smile sometimes' and we leave. Honestly to be fair, the cakes were nice, coffee good if tiny for 5 âŹ! But man it is so bobo in there, puts vegans to shame! I have decided to never go there again. Improve your service and get together the kitchen, you were empty and only had to heat up a chocolate cake, why 20 minutes wait? I really, and I mean it, after years don't understand the buzz for this place, I walk past it at lunch and there's always a line outside...hope they get served quicker than we did. Shame all this experience pushes aside the fact the first server was friendly and nice. Avoid at all costs. 2stars for service as the first...
Read moreThe food was great. The service was terrible. I donât know if the waitress didnât like Americans, African Americans, or what this issue was, but my experience was less than desirable for a restaurant I made reservations for weeks ago and was looking forward to.
I got there and was seated outside per my reservation request. When the waitress finally came out to take my order I asked her for an English menu and a new fork as mine had dropped on the floor. She never came back. The second waitress came out and asked for my order and I told her I had asked waitress #1 for an English menu and she never came back. She immediately went and grabbed the card with the English menu on the QR code, a few seconds. When waitress #1 came back she asked if I was ready to order I told her I was still looking as I had just gotten the menu because she never came back. She said she âforgotâ as it was busy and she was serving other people. When she came back again (which took forever) to finally get my order she was very cold. She came, looked at me, and said âyes.â, with a straight, cold face even though I was very polite. During my order I asked her about the dessert and which one she recommends and which is most popular of the two options I was thinking about. She told me Iâm in France so the less sweet one is more popular. Itâs the way she said it. Seemed a little sassy but I digress. About 40 minutes after my reservation started I was able to place my order. Food came out fairly quickly, then waitress #2 came more frequently to see if I needed anything (twice). Took quite a while for waitress #2 to come and ask if I wanted anything else but that was fine. Waitress #2 was nicer (blondish hair). Waitress #1 (darker hair) not so much. I didnât even order the dessert I wanted because of the experience I had. I just wanted to pay and leave.
I enjoyed the quesadilla and Mac and cheese carbonara. Not sure if you have to request water here, but I was never asked if I want it. Might be an American thing. Like I said, food was good, just wish my experience had...
Read moreAnother vegan disappointed in the city of love and gen z wearing 300⏠vintage niche bla bla bla. First of all, this place screams I AM VEGAN before you even see a menu. You walk in and youâre already assaulted by a chaotic altar of overpriced virtue-signaling: tarot cards, funky tofu socks, feminist keychains, crystal-charged shampoo queer +- tote bag, recycled everything possible, and god knows what else. Itâs giving Gen Z freelances-core. Itâs giving âwe donât cook, we curate vibes and art directing .âItâs not giving vegetables. Letâs talk about the food! Everything tastes like a remix of the same tired fake meat, cheese fantasy â mushy, greasy, and coated in sauces so thick and over or under-seasoned, and ofc my fav rubbery fever dream of melted plasticine cheese, play-doh, and sadness textures that will never be melt and sticks to the bottom of your mouth. Nothing breathes. Nothing is light. Nothing tastes like it came from the earth-unless itâs a hell kitchen. The salad? Only counts as one because there was lettuce involved with a taste of the office paper, buried beneath fried cardboard and âparmesanâ dust. Tofu was cover with a sauce that kinda Asian inspires, but instead tastes like mix of glue and sugar. Now, the quesadilla-I was truly amezed how it managed to maintain the texture of cardboard despite being covered in enough sauce to drown a Titanic. A tortilla so dry and stiff it couldâve been repurposed as roofing material, so probably the chef has a background in construction. And even the lime, THE LIME couldnât safe anything in this dystopia. Itâs not vegan cuisine â itâs a deep-fried...
