Aux 2 Anges is the best and most delightful pâtisserie/boulangerie Iâve run across anywhere - and thereâs lots of competition! For the single-serving Paris-Brest alone, Aux 2 Anges deserves the Nobel Prize in Patisserie! The pâte-Ă -choux is solid, crisp, perfectly fresh. The praline pastry cream is light as a feather, beautifully smooth & creamy, loaded with the richness of roasted hazelnuts and caramel. Aux 2 Anges, the viennoiserie đĽ is carefully and thoughtfully prepared, tender-crisp and beautifully laminated, and was replenished as quickly as it disappeared. Tarte Normande was loaded with apples and softened with a bit of cream in a crisp, buttery crust. The Flan Parisienne, hallowed staple of Parisian patisseries, is redolent of vanilla, and sidesteps the gluey consistency that can plague crème pâtissière. The proprietors and staff are gracious, welcoming, and very efficient. I was grateful there was a bit of a queue, as it gave me time to decide what to try as I made my way past the gorgeously stocked display cases. I know Iâve talked about the lovely sweets, but Aux 2 Anges also offers a beautiful selection of nice savory sandwiches and flatbreads, loaves of freshly baked bread, and all kinds of things to pick up for a great lunch⌠with dessert! (See photos; although they donât represent half of whatâs on offer). Do check out Aux 2 Anges if youâre...
Read moreI'm puzzled. I have going there for the past 4 years. Pastries and croissants are amazingly good. Bread đ is also good.
But not a five stars đ because of the quality of service and the overall experience that is very different from one day to the other. Sometimes good and sometimes extremely bad.
Mostly depending on who is managing the place the service can be very bad. Waitresses are shouting at each other to take an order, the "boss" is asking 3 times the same order and shout at his waitresses. And it takes a long time to just serve few clients because of this bad organisation.
Overall the food is too good to be missed and this is therefore a place I recommend. Hopefully the service will improve and the baker in chief will eventually stop servicing clients. He's good at doing bread đ and pastries but...
Read moreI found the charming place on my first trip to Paris on the first afternoon. I got a handful of treats, a pain aux cereal (which became my favorite on its own or with meat), and then a croissant to kick off my stay in Paris. These set the tone and precedence for my trip. The rest of the time I compared everything else to them. The owner was such a kind and knowledgeable person who was also kind with pre-school level French attempts. On the last evening of my trip I had to return for one last load up of goodies for my trip home because nothing else had been as good. If you are in Paris, please go get some wonderful patisserieâs from them. They deserve your business plus it will only make your trip better. I definitely look forward to coming...
