EDIT: Per the prompt response to my original review (below), I forwarded my email (I suppose I was originally given an email address that no one checks?) to the email address provided (this was months ago). I spoke with the manager via email who requested me to send an invoice which I did. I was then told to send the original invoice (a ridiculous request because people obviously keep receipts for items that they bought years ago) and I told him I didn't have this. I then reiterated that I would like to be compensated for my items that were stolen at the property (and even requested they view the security footage) and followed up via email three more times and didn't receive a response, let alone compensation for my items. I am absolutely dumbfounded that not only were my items stolen at this poorly run establishment but that this incident occurred months ago (and I've sent countless emails following up) and I still haven't been compensated. As someone who studied business and worked in consulting, I know how important reputation is. I currently work as a teacher and I am excited to use this example to show my students (and everyone I know) a) how NOT to run a business, b) which businesses to avoid in Paris, and c) why hiring responsive and ethical staff is important. This is beyond absurd.
Original: I had a very bad experience at this bar - I went to this establishment on November 18 (Saturday night) and paid the 2 euro euro fee to drop off my coat, hat, and scarf at coat check. At the end of the night, the woman working the coat check only gave me back my coat, stating that my hat and scarf were stolen. I was told to contact the bar and request view the security footage to see who stole my hat and scarf. The hat and scarf are tartan (red, plaid). I called the next day and even went to the bar in person; I was provided a general email address and was told to send an email regarding my situation. I was also told that my information would be shared with the manager and the employee who was working at the coat counter on Saturday night.
I sent an email to the generic email account and stated that I would like my items back; if they were lost, I requested compensation. To my surprise, I didn't receive a response. I followed up numerous times via email and even went in person two more times. One employee kindly printed my email and said she would leave it at the manager's desk who would respond. It's been two weeks and I still haven't received a response from this manager. This is a very unresponsive establishment that thinks it's acceptable to lose a paying customer's items and then not respond at all. Very unprofessional, unresponsive, disorganized, and would not recommend at all. There are much better bars in Paris than this one, with friendlier and...
Read moreSo I have just recently reached Paris and this place was close to where I stay. at first everything felt alright, I was having my drinks and enjoyed my time there and left. The second night I thought of why not, let me grab some drinks again and chill, and was having a complete fun time and spent between both days almost 200 euros just to be kicked out yes. Kicked out. You guys have three African bodyguards that are completely disrespectful and rude. As I as I remember, I was leaving like I just went outside and then the bodyguard came to me and he was like why are you slamming the door? I had told him I have not slammed the door and I continued walking outside when I tried come in again he refused to let me in and they refused total communication with me even that I paid on that place too much amount just at the end. I’m getting this type of treatment that came outside. I explained him about what’s going on and I told him they’re not letting me in and no one is answering me and it’s totally humiliating and he tried to but I’m just I cannot interfere when it comes to the bodyguard job so I told him no problems. I would like to see a manager, told me the manager is not available today tonight OK and there was no any certain of any type of assistance from there from anyone then the bartender tried to speak with them. I don’t speak French so I wasn’t knowing what’s going on because they start telling them they started they started telling him about what’s going on so I told him please explain to me what’s going on. He said they are kicking me out OK because they’re not allowing to let me in because I have been harassing females there multiple complaints when I have been sitting or hanging out with Dudes or whoever friendly I will make sure to take this level so they can understand as a tourist. I feel like I’ve beencheated and kicked out. I will post as well, in all social...
Read moreThis place is probably fine if you came to Paris but hate Parisian bars and cafes. This is a branch of the Belushi's brand of bars that originated in Camden, London.
The bar is in a glassed-over courtyard in a hotel building. My guess is that a good proportion of patrons are clients of the hotel. There are painted murals of artists ranging from Jimi Hendrix to Amy Winehouse on the walls but they seem so artistically dry that there are probably identical ones in camden. There are commercial posters on the walls promoting drink specials like Jäger bombs or Fireball. They sell a special package that includes two pitchers of beer, some plastic cups and access to a ping pong table. The bar is in the center. They have some high chairs that made me rather sit in a low chair and rest my chin on the table.
I'd say drinks are usual price, nothing exceptional. They have a happy hour until 10 p.m.
Music is charting American pop and only that. There's a DJ above the bar; internet radio could probably do his job.
Patronage is composed almost exclusively of English speakers, I would say mostly Americans judging from the jerseys and baseball caps. This makes sense, as I would see no reason for a Parisian to frequent this place besides cultural exposure.
I went there on a Thursday night with a couple of friends and we probably made up 20% of the people there. We sat close to a group of frat boys getting drunk playing beer pong.
Honestly, why go to this place when you're in Paris? There are so many cooler bars that play good music and have an awesome atmosphere. From the advertisements on the walls to the music, you really felt that this place was part of a chain. So not terrible, but worse than the...
