Read moreThe food was good but nothing to rave about. On the otherhand, the service was absolutely terrible. I came here as a solo black female traveler and not once did the waitress come to my table to offer water, take my order or ask if I needed anything. I had to flag down what looked like the owner (older black gentleman) in order to place my order My food came out at a reasonable time but I had to flag the waitress down twice- the 1st to give me a pitcher of water and the other to get a box for my food and the check. She consistently stood behind the cash register. I had to motion for her to come to the table so she could hear me instead of trying to read my lips across the tables. I believe she purposely ignored me because I saw her going to other tables, pouring water and taking orders for couples and parties that came in after me. I know myself enough that I am very polite, patient and understanding but I was really disappointed in this place. Being that it;'s Caribbean and black-owned, I was really looking forward to supporting it during my summer in Paris, but I will NEVER recommend or return to this place. Service is so important, even more than the food. I felt unwelcomed and a disservice to this establishment. Big Black Cook, was a Big Black...
Friendly, kind and inviting staff, cute restaurant, with a nice cozy atmosphere. Food was tasy but not traditional carribean flavours as food is cooked to serve french palate (which isnt much flavouring normally)
Jerk sauce was a bit too smokey as it tasted heavily of typical sweet bbq sauce which im not a fan of. Chicken itself was beautifully cooked, tender and soft, not dry at all. Absolutely perfect, just let down by the sauce for me. Rice was nicely cooked and fluffy. Slaw needed a bit more dressing and was very fresh/raw but nice and crunchy.
The waitress allowed me to taste a small bit of the sweet chicken with peanuts and it was very soft and crumbly, breaking away similar to pulled chicken. Very delicious and would recommend that as first dish to try if you like sweet dishes

Read moreThis time is the third time I come back, and well I have the feeling that it has changed a little in terms of quantity, it is recommended to order an extra accompaniment of plantain or sweet potatoes if you want a notable quantity, the shrimp accras are very delicious but they are lacking a little bit of cooking n this time, but everything is very delicious, It is not something that I would recommend as a great meal if you are a good eater but to try something good and flavorful... it's not bad, we all understand the location and the price which is food nowadays but I always look for restaurants of this style to transport me for a moment to my island, but there is nothing like the generosity of one's own homeland.
Very attentive staff, very clean place and...
