If your darkest fantasy and a patisserie birthed a baby, it would be this: BO&MIE
Say your prayers, get baptized, smear ash on your forehead or douse yourself in sage.. do whatever it takes before entering.. for you will sin. And you will sin again and again
TLDR: must.go.here.
Was recommended this gem from hotel reception.. after inspecting avalanche of five star reviews for any speck of doubt.. came up with nothing. So prioritized it my first morning in Paris
âEverything is goodâ is probably the worst thing you could hear when trying to understand what exactly to try.. sadly, that is the hand over heart TRUTH here
On good word from the team behind the counter, narrowed down my âpre lunchâ meal to ..
Vegetarian sandwich: fresh sourdough baguette with feta cheese cubes, eggplant, tomatoes, some sort of salsa perfectly toasted as if the God of Ovens was kneeling down and breathing a gentle kiss on to your sandwich
Madeline Praliné: homemade madeleine, praline heart, hazelnuts, dark chocolate glaze ie this Madeline is STUFFED with a beautiful, light hazelnut whip!
Cookie Avoine & Chocolate: oatmeal, chocolate and almond cookie MUST GET (and this is coming from a Globally Self Acclaimed Cookie Connoisseur)
Flan Praliné Noisette: praline flan, gianduja glaze and whole hazelnuts what in the actually French curse word?! if you like flan, chocolate and hazelnut.. warped into what looks like a pastry but tastes like a lighter version of cheesecake.. hazelnut flan..? THIS IS THE BUSINESS (also served cold which is refreshing, especially against contrast of hot warming coffee)
Sharing tons of pics.. vowed to the Patrons of Patisserie in Paris that I shall not leave before trying 50% of the goodies here.. took down 4 in my first run this morning.. likely going back after lunch.. and then tomorrow multiple times..
GO. GET. SOME.
P.S. usually always a line.. but it moves quick.. 100% worth the few minutes. Service...
Read moreBo & Mie is a popular boulngerie with multiple locations around the city of lights and we went there after reading all the encouraging reviews and seeing all of those mouth watering photos online.
For our luck, we found a branch that was located right on our street, so we had the luxury of waking up everyday for a nice dose of delicious out of the this world pastries.
Even if you are not an experienced connoisseur of french pastries, this place will not disappoint, eventhough for locals it might be a bit on the touristy side but I have locals verifying that it was worth the visit, which makes it a legit choice for an authentic French boulnagerie that is catered towards tourists and locals alike.
We tried their plain croissants, pain au chocolat, as well as their salmon bagel which was truly second best after a creme bagel I had at a very famous outlet in Newyork city which make this a very serious contender.
The service was prompt and friendly and most of the staff spoke good English so this shouldn't also be a problem when visiting with basic or no command of french.
The place itself can get busy during the breakfast/lunch hours so prepare to stand in line for 10 to 20 min depending on the location and whether you arrived at peak timings or end of each meal service interval, but it is definitely worth it!
Just bear in mind that you will have to pay a bit extra for dinning in as opposed to picking your order to go, we found out about this after we paid so make sure you clarify this when paying.
Nothing beats a nice boulngerie breakfast while visiting Paris, with a nice hot cup of coffee, which by the way their cappuccino was above bar also so no need to go anywhere for the whole breakfast or...
Read moreUpdate: I gave this place a 5 star review in the beginning, specifically also because you get asked to leave a review and my first visit was a pretty nice one. Because I liked it I came back twice but encountered bad service twice. Very unfriendly staff and even though after showing them my voucher (when you leave a review, theyâll send you a voucher for a croissant and a coffee per email) they gave me a dry mini croissant and later on Iâve seen that they added an extra coffee to my bill, so I got charged after all. Super disappointed. Another day they tried to give my friend some mini cookie instead of the croissant as promised on the coupon. She had to INSIST that it clearly states âCroissant and coffeeâ. After some discussing they gave in. For my order I also clearly asked for a black coffee (that shouldâve been free with the coupon) and like the last time they gave me a milky drink with a splash of coffee. And even though I had the coupon theyâve charged me for it. I donât know how theyâve done it because I clearly checked that on the register I just pay for the other things Iâve purchased separately (If you stay in front of the register you can see the things added to your bill). They mustâve put it on seconds before I paid.
They have good stuff but probably wonât go there again unlike they actually change their attitude and...
