Café de l'Esplanade — Restaurant in Paris

Was staying nearby on the first day decided to have coffee and cake, the waiting staff who was all white male totally ignored me, yet at all time a warm welcome to all the white clientele, when I eventually got served the coffee and brioche was very tasty. Next morning went in for coffee, the members of staff mainly females and very mixed ethnicity all went well. However clearly the all white male waiting staff have issues and are without doubt racist especially the one with a beard as he was the same waiter possibly manager who was very rude the first time I visited. Firstly having asked for a table he completely ignored me, so seeing other people just sitting down I did so too and waited eventually the bearded waiter begrudgingly handed me a menu but 30 minutes later he still had not returned to take the order but could clearly be seen welcoming and serving all the white clientele even those who came after me, in the end I did not eat or drink anything and I just left but ultimately the rudeness and racist behaviour of the waiters led to me looking for an alternative restaurant for dinner that evening and I went on to discover ‘The Ministry of Spice’ next to the Eiffel Tower an exquisite Indian restaurant with sublime food, exceptional service and a great welcome. So the whilst I will never return to Cafe de L’Esplanade due to racist behaviour of the waiters, I would definitely be returning to the The Ministry of Spice, as well near Notre Dame is an absolutely amazing cafe A.LACROIX with amazing cakes, coffee, wraps etc everyone is treated with warmth and respect and it is a beautiful cafe...

It was close to my hotel and we wanted a nicer dinner for our last night. . It has a nice ambiance at first, but a bit too "cool" and not the down to earth coziness. . The staff was nice. I ordered the filet mignon ,44€ and spinach and my daughter ordered the thin chicken breast with mashed potatoes and i literally realized i can make all of it better at home and yet it cost as much as gourmet fine dining. It didn't taste bad but i know how much chicken breast cooked in butter costs and how easy it is to make these meals, but it was in very descriptive french language on the menu so it sounded better than it really is. . . If I'm going to pay 44€ for anything at a fine dining restaurant i want it to be something i wouldn't be able to make myself. Then there's the atmosphere. For some reason i started feeling nauseated there. Maybe because i regretted paying that much for such simple food. They are trying so hard to be ultra upscale it just felt pretentious. And as far as the music.... although i like some non mainstream interesting even strange music at times, i didn't like their music choice after a while. I just wanted out of there. It was ultra cool slow club feel music. I would have chosen more of soft classical for that kind of place. My nausea left after leaving. I thought that was odd. But, i was impressed by the fresh roses in the bathroom and how beautiful...

I was very disappointed. I used to live at 15 place Vauban ( walking distance ) several years ago and this was one of my favorite restaurants . It was on my list to recommend restaurants . However, today the service was bad , actually lacking severely. I walked in and the restaurant was empty except for three or four tables next to the window . I took a table also next to a window . The table next to mine still has plates and glasses on it and while I was waiting for my party to arrive no one stopped by and greeted me or cleaned the table next to me . A person walked through the dining room twice to remove menus but never said hello or cleaned the table . I walked to the front of the restaurant twice and back to my seat and nothing … people in the kitchen were talking extremely loud . A female server came out to the dining room with what looked like table cloths and was having a loud conversation with the kitchen staff … … it was so bad I actually left when my friends arrived and went to another restaurant.

Is this restaurant under the same management. I think it was a Coste restaurant once before …
