POST RESPONSE EDIT I will happily discuss it more on a public platform. Your response is again not addressing the real issue that we and many other people have had with your establishment which is that your staff are aggressive and condescending towards your potential patrons. Why would we want to go back inside a club where we did not feel safe or welcome? While we appreciate that an offer was made, it was not a solution to the issues we and many others have experienced. It is clear that these problems have been ongoing for years and that Cafe Oz makes no effort to resolve them. Your copy and paste answer is the same as the offer that was made to us at the club, and that is not good enough.
My friend and I had a terrible experience here. We are both experienced club goers, and enjoy supporting the night life industry. Right off the bat the bouncers were incredibly rude, it seemed like none of them wanted to let us into the club and kept adding requirements and fees before they let us enter. Compared to other clubs and bars in the area, it was not a friendly atmosphere and we were not made to feel welcome. We did not feel comfortable having alcoholic drinks because we did not feel safe or that the staff would prioritize our best interests, and while there were many bouncers we in no way felt protected and we were consistently talked down to by them. After several terrible interactions we decided to leave, at which point they acted surprised that we weren’t enjoying ourselves. We made a point of reaching out to a manager which is when we met Julien, and while he agreed that we weren’t intoxicated or causing any problems he was not willing to address the issues we brought up. He contradicted himself several times throughout the conversation, first telling us that if we went back inside we would be taken care of and then saying that they just wouldn’t charge us a second time for entry and checking our coats which was a requirement to enter the club. We wanted to make it clear that we went there fully intending to spend money and that it was due to the actions and abrasive behaviour of his staff that we did not which he did not seem to care about. Finally, Julien gave us an ultimatum that we could either re-enter the club or leave with no resolution. We have never been treated so poorly by an establishment, and it left a bad taste in our mouths for the evening. I would never recommend anyone go here, and in fact would warn people...
Read moreThis place could be way better. The bouncers outside are very impolite, unfriendly and quite belittling, blocking the way for no reason at all. Asking questions they don't need to ask, like "what are you coming to do here"!!! Geee!!! ☹ What would I want to do in a restaurant/bar?? 😑 Or, "there's not much room left", but it was half full!! I came to join my friends!! And, I'm very beautiful, I didn't look strange, nor do I ever take drugs nor booze, or such... Very wierd, and impolite of those guys. And, lots of comments and other people say the same about them. But, it's been this way for at least They the last year. They don't do their jobs correctly. They didn't even say good evening nor open the heavy door for me! 🧐 Once inside, it's much too dark, blueish light, the uneven floor has gaps and holes to trip over or twist an ankle, especially when dancing. That's not cool at all. No atmosphere, either. Especially nothing Aussie to it. No Au nor Eng people either. Screens on every corner, can attract football fans. Which wasn't the case, that evening. I suppose lots of drunkerds come here, during events...The salsa evening has good music, but the space is very small, too crowded, broken floor. Not fun. Drinks are ok, but expensive. We took snacks, pizza, chips and such, was ok, but took long to come. My friends and I won't come back. There are so many nicer cosier fun places around. With nicer...
Read moreI am writing to formally raise a complaint regarding the repeated poor treatment I experienced at your club on two separate occasions.
Both times I visited with friends, we noticed a pattern of what seemed like discriminatory behavior towards Asian customers. While other guests were being offered snacks like chips and complimentary small drinks, we (and other Asian guests present) were repeatedly ignored. Even when one of us directly asked for chips, your staff, especially one female staff member, acted as if she didn’t hear us and continued serving others around us.
We paid for entry and also spent a considerable amount on drinks, just like other customers, yet we were made to feel invisible and unwelcome. On our second visit, there were four other Asian guests (a couple and two others) who experienced the same treatment.
It’s not about free snacks or drinks—it’s about respect and equal treatment. Being made to feel like we don’t belong because of our ethnicity is unacceptable. We’ve visited other bars and clubs in the area, including Everest Bar, where the service was warm, inclusive, and professional—exactly how paying customers should be treated.
I hope you take this feedback seriously. If your club wants to present itself as a welcoming and inclusive venue, your staff need training on customer service and...
