I have booked this Hotel on Sep 25th, 2024 for Nov 21, 2024 stay, and paid in full through Expedia TD website. On Nov 21, 2024, due to the Paris snow, I was stuck in the train, and I still messaged and confirmed with the Hotel multiple times on that day that I will check in late by or before midnight. Finally, when I got to the hotel around 10:30 PM, the front desk just simply told me “The room get cancelled due to some room issues, refund you the money”. No explanation, no help and just literally push me to the street. I travel solo and first time get to Paris on this extreme weather condition, without any prior notification on this cancellation and kicked me out in the mid of night. This is a most terrible experience in my life, and this is unacceptable and unethical behavior especially in hospitality industry.

I complained once I back to Canada, all they just simply say refund you the money. Of course, you need to refund my money because I didn’t even stay in that hotel, but how about the amount of stress and time I waste there. I am warning any future traveler (especially solo female traveler) here, please be cautious this hotel, it would put yourself into a very very risky situation, I hope this experience wont’ ever never happen to any other traveler again.

here is the response to your comments below

Thanks for your response, hope you just didn’t get the full story before you response to me, not try to make up the story here.

  1. I NEVER communicated with your end on I wouldn’t be able make to the Paris, I messaged the hotel multiple times when I was stuck in the train on Nov 21, 2024, I did get response back and ask me to confirm whether or not if I will be arriving this evening, then I responded back and let them know I will check in late by or before midnight due to delayed train caused by extreme weather condition. I kept all the message and I have a witness on the train (also a Expedia travel agent) on this, on the contrary, I clearly messaged to your hotel, “hopefully get to hotel by or before midnight”. You can find all the backup on the email to your hotel.

  2. There is no attempt to communicate with me on this cancellation, not to my Canadian cell number, or message or my email. Your hotel DOES have all my contact info in the file.

  3. I don’t like you misleading other travelers on this cancellation because I informed your hotel, because that is not true. Per your hotel explanation before - “The situation was that we had a last-minute technical problem with your room and were unable to accommodate you for the night of Thursday evening, November 21th. “, I also have all the backup on this and witness too.

  4. Despite the fact that I informed your end I will check in, you end cancelled the room without any prior notification and KICKED ME OUT in the mid of night, which I found to be extremely unethical, inconvenient and stressed me out for the entire night. Do you really think is worth mentioning here “refund you money”?

  5. I share this story to warn all solo traveler, there is a huge risk, especially Female one being kicked out midnight, also want to your hotel to improve your level of service, not just...

Located across the Seine from the Île de la Cité, the Hotel Britannique is ideally situated for a stroll up the Rue de Rivoli to the Louvre or across the river to Sainte-Chapelle. Two minutes farther on is the RER C line, from where one can catch a train to Versailles. Back at the hotel, Le Zimmer, a good Alsatian restaurant, is on the corner. The Hotel Britannique has several different room categories and their permutation requires a moment’s thought. One has to decide between the size of the room and the view it offers—and whether one wants the amenity of a balcony. On the sixth floor, for example, is a Classic room with a view over the rooftops to the Eiffel Tower—but it’s the smallest room (14 m²) in the hotel. There is a larger Classic (15 m²), as well as a Traditional (16 m²), although with a balcony the latter is reduced to the size of the former. A Superior room is larger still but faces the wall of the building opposite. Finally, there is a Deluxe room, which is the same size (18 m²) but overlooks the street. Soundproof windows effectively shut out any noise, and this is where we stayed—just below the eaves on the fourth floor. Aside from the Junior Suite (which is unsuitable for couples in any event), this is Britannique’s largest room, although the king-size bed competes with the bathroom door for much of the space. We forwent a balcony as we could just as easily peek over the red geraniums all the way to the impressive façade of the Hôtel de Ville. There also is a Deluxe with balcony but, again, at the sacrifice of room size (16 m²). If location and the choice of rooms were not enough, Maxime and Jade made our stay at the Hotel Britannique even more pleasant. (A final note: book directly. Rates will be not be lower elsewhere, and one has the advantage of dealing directly with...

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Britannique Hotel, and it was truly an exceptional experience. This charming establishment is perfectly situated in the heart of Paris, offering a prime location that is within walking distance of all the city's finest attractions, top-notch restaurants, premium shopping outlets, and a delightful selection of nearby bakeries and cafes.

What truly sets the Britannique Hotel apart is its exceptional service and the warm, accommodating nature of the staff. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with a welcoming smile and a willingness to assist with any request. The level of service consistently exceeded my expectations throughout my stay.

One of the highlights of my stay was the delightful breakfast that the hotel offers. The culinary experience was nothing short of delicious, with a wide array of options to choose from. It was a fantastic way to start each day, and it set a positive tone for my entire stay.

The guest room itself was immaculately clean and maintained in a pristine, tidy condition. The attention to detail in housekeeping was evident, and it contributed to a sense of comfort and relaxation during my stay. Furthermore, the tranquility of the hotel at night ensured a peaceful and undisturbed night's sleep, allowing me to wake up refreshed and ready to explore the city.

In summary, I cannot speak highly enough of the Britannique Hotel. My stay was an absolute pleasure, and I am looking forward to returning in the future. It is a true gem in the heart of Paris, offering an ideal blend of location, service, and comfort. If you seek a memorable stay in this beautiful city, Britannique Hotel should be...

The Britannique was amazing in all aspects. The perfect location on lovely sidestreet one block off the Seine and the other side was blocks of cafes, shops, and restaurants. In front of the hotel is 4 handicapped parking spots, otherwise public parking about 200 meters away. Most of the main attractions are all walkable. The hotel is a very elegant boutique hotel. We felt very welcomed and at home. They have a lift, which is a huge plus. We opened our bedroom window into a beautiful red flower box. We stayed in the standard room which has everything you need, is smaller, but is less expensive. We still loved it. The room decor was beautiful, clean and updated. The bed was super comfortable and even had real pillows. The TV actually had about 5 English speaking stations. The room had a safe, mini fridge, plenty of areas to plug in electronics and even a strip to plug in USB ports. Our bathroom had a huge tub, I believe some of the rooms only had a shower. The front desk is manned 24/7, they are very kind and willing to assist with anything you might need. During the daytime the lobby has 2 different flavored waters for the guests. I always looked forward to the breakfast buffet, $14 charge, which had hot options. The scrambled eggs were delicious and real. They were made fresh and not floating in who knows what liquid. They also served bacon and sometimes sausages. The hotel also had a nice sitting room to relax in. We really enjoyed our 4 night stay. The Britannique thinks of everything, all the little details. I would not stay anywhere else.

I strongly advise against staying at this hotel, as it could significantly mar your travel experience. During our recent stay, the hotel staff assigned us a room with shattered windows, despite the freezing weather outside (-2 degrees Celsius). Unfortunately, no one was available to assist us in either closing or repairing the windows, which made the room extremely cold and uncomfortable. We tried to use towel to seal it but didn't work. While there were other rooms available, the staff refused to offer us an alternative. I was perplexed as to why we were the only ones with a malfunctioning room, and I felt unfairly treated. In the end, we decided to book another hotel and left at 11 PM. The reception informed us that we could return in the morning for a refund, but the manager, Victor, blamed us for opening the disused window and refused our refund request. When we arrived at the room, we were looking for curtains but found no clear instructions on how to close them. Inadvertently, we touched the window, which fell down, making it impossible to close it properly. Overall, I am thoroughly disappointed with our experience at this hotel. I am puzzled as to how it could have a rating of 4.7 on Google. While the gentleman at the reception during the night was helpful, the manager's attitude was less than satisfactory.

Rooms were very small but charming and clean. Our balcony was nice. Street noise could be a factor but it didn’t bother us. The only negative was one gentleman who worked the night shift-we were told he only worked on Wednesdays-he was rude and apparently did not like his job. We asked for clean towels and he brought them to our room, shoving them towards me as soon as I opened the door. The next morning we had an early pick up of 5:15 for a tour of Normandy. I came down to the lobby assuming I could use the very charming and comfortable sitting room for a few minutes while waiting for our pick up. Instead I was met with a stern, rude “no, it is closed until 7 am”. I guess common sense and the overall comfort of your guests is not a priority???? But I have to say every other staff person we encountered was amazing. They could not have been more accommodating. Please don’t let one person ruin your establishment’s reputation.
