I would recommend this trip to anyone - it is great fun and a superb way to see some of Paris using two modes of transport at the same time. However - it isn’t a tour for those who want a more history based experience, it is there for the fun factor.
Two things to bear in mind:
although it may be billed as an “English” tour, the amount of English spoken by the guides may be as little as 40% or so with the majority of the tour spoken in French and then translated into English. This has the effect that often you hear about things that you passed a few minutes ago with the “live” commentary in French. This would probably have put me off booking - but that would have been a mistake!
there is no commentary or “tour” element while you are in the river. You drive out of Paris and enter the river, do a ride up the river, turn around and come back again; no sightseeing. Again, if I’d known this I might not have booked - but I’d have missed out.
Where this really comes into its own as an experience is the guides, who are engaging and get to know the group, have quizzes and also provide information on the places you go past. My children thoroughly enjoyed it, as did my wife, and I’m really glad I booked - the amphibious part is unusual and well worth the price of the tour alone.
Definitely a great way to spend a morning and I’d go again if...
Read moreAmazing team. Everybody was super friendly and helpful Very entertaining for children It's bilingual. Being fluent in French & English, I can confirm that you receive the same information in both languages The decision to change the order of the tour to adapt to traffic conditions was done swiftly, which I appreciated. If it's your first time in Paris and your goal is to see and learn about the main landmarks, this is NOT the tour for you. You don't really drive/navigate close to them and the commentary is superficial unless you ask for more details. The boat part is not taking place at the most interesting bit of the Seine. I was aware of this and the explanation as to why is understandable. But many passengers were surprised. No glass windows, which again makes sense as to why and is great by good weather. In our case however it rained slightly and plastic covers were rolled down, so you didn't see clearly. I thought asking for tips at the end was a bit cheeky when the adult ticket is 39€.
All in all, the tour fulfilled my personal expectations because I have lived in Paris and was mainly looking for something to entertain a 7 and 10yrs old. If you are a tourist who is visiting for the first time, the content might not meet your...
Read moreOur tour with Les Canards de Paris was absolutely delightful! From the moment we boarded the vehicle, we knew we were in for a treat. The seamless coordination and friendly atmosphere set the tone for an incredible day.
A special shoutout to Mr. Elliot, our guide, whose expertise and enthusiasm were truly remarkable. His passion for the city's history and culture was evident in every story he told, making the tour not only educational but also highly engaging. He had a wonderful way of connecting with everyone in the group, ensuring that all our questions were answered.
Special remark for his impeccable English (I really thought he was British).
We also want to extend our gratitude to Mr. Paul, our driver. His impeccable driving skills and calm presence made the journey smooth and stress-free. Navigating through Paris's bustling streets is no easy task, but Mr. Paul did it with such ease and confidence (including in the water!!!).
I wholeheartedly recommend Les Canards de Paris to anyone looking to explore Paris in a fun and informative way. With the dynamic duo of Mr. Elliot and Mr. Paul, your tour is bound to be...
