Café du Rendez-Vous — Restaurant in Paris

I am baffled by the other reviews on here. The food was fantastic and the people were amazing. We were immediately sat outside. Parisian culture is a nice slow meal, taking your time. It sounds like most reviewers are Americans who did not take this into account. We were running close to our reservation time for the catacombs, and our server quickly brought us the check while we waited for our dessert, which was blatantly not a French cultural thing to do. Our server’s English was a bit broken, but we did not expect any English at all, since we are the foreigners here. Our minuscule French and his best efforts at English moved us right along. For those of you concerned with a language barrier, there is a menu on the table that you can scan with your phone, put what you want onto a “wish list”, and simply show your server. MOUSE/RAT ALERT! The worst dining experience ever. While eating and drinking casually inside this place, we noticed a rat/mouse freely roaming under the tables. We were shocked and surprised as we've never experienced such thing, which should never obviously happen in clean and organized establishments. However the worst part of it was that both waiter and restaurant manager handled it very unprofessionally trying to convince us that having animals roaming where you eat food is completely normal, especially in Paris and claimed their 14 years of experience as hospitality as a reference. They were consistently trying to make fools out of us, didn't apologize nor offered any refund for the meals we couldn't even look at anymore. FRIENDLY SERVICE ! My wife and I walked about 300 feet from our apartment to this restaurant this morning. After breakfast at our place we needed good coffees. We walked inside here about 9am and it was very cosy. My wife ordered 2 x Double Shot Cappuccinos at the bar...we opted to sit inside on a chilly morning. It costs a bit more than sitting outside. We found a comfortable table and within a few short minutes a smiling server brought our 2 beautifully presented Cappuccinos to our table. MORE THAN HAPPY ! Our well made cappuccinos tasted very satisfying...thank you Tom the barista. We even checked out the breakfast, lunch and dinner menus while enjoying our delicious cappuccinos. NICE VIBE ! My wife liked a few things on the dinner menu so we may be back this evening....
