After researching the top 10 spots for couscous in Paris, I decided to give this restaurant a try. Unfortunately, the experience started on a less-than-positive note, as the reception and seating lacked warmth and courtesy. We placed our order right away, choosing a Moroccan salad, a pastilla au poulet, and a vegetarian couscous with a side of merguez. The Moroccan salad was quite underwhelming—essentially a mix of greens, tomatoes, cucumbers, and green peppers, but without any distinctive flavor or seasoning to make it stand out. The real highlight of the meal was the pastilla. The moment I cut into it, the fresh and perfectly crispy crust impressed me, and the taste was nothing short of excellent. However, the couscous was a bit of a letdown. While the vegetables included (carrots, zucchini, and potatoes) were well-cooked, I had expected a more diverse selection—perhaps cauliflower, green beans, or even sweet potatoes. Additionally, the couscous itself lacked the sweet touch of dried raisins, which would have added a layer of depth to the dish. Overall, the meal left me feeling as though I had opted for a budget-friendly version of what could have been a much richer...

Yesterday my friend and I went to this place for our last dinner in Paris. The place was too crowded so much so that I had to protect the dishes on our table every time someone of the staff was passing by so closely! The food is good but not excellent I had better food somewhere else! The shocking part is the staff behaviour.. they are SO RUDE is unbelievable! They make you feel unwelcome, you have a constant sensation they want you to eat quickly and get the hell out of there. When we asked if they serve a glass of wine instead of the bottle they point it out where on the manu said it and answered: you have being here for half hour and still you didn’t see it??” Making us feel like we were idiots. I doubt I will be back! Note for the owner “IF YOU DON’T WANT TO LOOSE OUT CUSTOMERS IN THE LONG RUN, YOU REALLY HAVE TO CHANGE HOW YOU TREAT YOUR CUSTOMERS”. You can be sure I will tell everyone I know how terrible your service is and how bad you...

This was apparently a very popular place. Not so much now: Friday night and it wasn’t super busy.

We sat outside and shared a couscous royale. It didn’t seem like a lot of couscous grains but we were satisfied. I was expecting the standout to be the merguez but they were nothing special. The méchoui was though and I raved about it to the waiter who acknowledged that he can’t it as good himself. Next time I’d probably just get the méchoui and a side of merguez.

My dining companion had the chocolate mousse, which seemed tasty. I opted to go next door for the gelato.

All in all, a tasty dinner. Best couscous in Paris? I doubt it but it was tasty. Side note: I was surprised to see people at the table best to us ordering steak with pepper sauce. At a...

Chez Omar in the Marais district of Paris offers an exceptional dining experience. Their chicken couscous with chicken skewers is a standout dish, featuring farm-raised, organic chicken cooked to perfection. The couscous itself is delicious, and the vegetables are expertly prepared, showcasing the chef's skill and attention to detail. Everything comes straight from the grill and pot, ensuring freshness and flavor. Beyond the food, the staff at Chez Omar truly excel. Despite any language barriers, they provide excellent service, taking great care of guests and ensuring a memorable dining experience. With top-notch cuisine and exceptional hospitality, Chez Omar is a must-visit destination for food lovers in Paris.

Very noisy, which ruined the experience and quality of the food. They make people wait in line right next to your table, see pictures, chatting loudly. Also, to optimize the place, and make more money obviously, every table is almost stuck to the other one, so it becomes complex to go to the bathroom or even leave the restaurant, this place is to crowed. It’s disappointing because the food is delicious, but due to their good reputation they don’t make anymore effort, classic star syndrome ! Also the service wasn’t great, especially regarding one of the waiter. Stop going there, it will make them reflect on the service.
