This restaurant was everything I had hope for and more. I am myself mexican and was very proud of sharing this experience. I’d highlight: The creative dishes and the mix of ingredients. The chef successfully preserved the delicate flavors of each ingredient. Special mention to the ‘hoja santa’ and chipotle embedded in the ‘tête de mort’. Which turns out to be a magnificent dessert. The presentations are incredibly beautiful. The service is caring, friendly and very professional. Their knowledge of Mexican food is outstanding. They truly enjoy explaining how each dish is made and why it is special. The blue tortillas are so rare to find, and here you can have as many as you want, which is a luxury. We ended with a tasting experience of tequila cristal, which marries very well with the dessert, and it was the most enjoyable experience. I never imagined that I could appreciate a Tequila in such a sublime way. Excellent for groups of heterogeneous tastes: I was a little anxious because we were a big group of 10 (mostly French but also italian, British, deutch and of course mexican people) and, being myself mexican, I have had many disappointing experiences on both sides. On the restaurant’s quality (either bad or overpriced) or on the side of international tastes not adapted to the ‘authentic Mexican dishes. Warning: this is not a vegetarian restaurant, they have some choice but it might not be what you want if you are a group of vegans Price: It is a bit more expensive that what I am used to and, having lived in Paris for many years, I am aware of the sometimes fashionable overpriced offer, but this is not at all the case. Every euro is worth it. Context: I went to Chicahualco to celebrate my doctoral defense with members of the jury, family and work colleagues. Everything...
Read moreThis is probably the best Mexican gastronomic restaurant in Paris. The attention to details is present in the cuisine, decoration and service. You feel at home. Each plate is presented with world class elegance. While it is authentic, expect the refinement of the French cuisine influence along with the millenary Mexican traditions. Mercedes Ahumada, the chef de cuisine and published author was present when we were about to leave and she came out to kindly greet us. Portions are fair but not enormous which is appreciated. The drinks, especially the mezcalita are prepared by Arturo the Mexican mixologist who seems to be an expert. Even the desserts are meaningful and beautiful. Order the one with the skull, whose ingredients change every season. Walking distance from Clichy, Opera and Madéleine. This is my new favorite...
Read moreAuthentic Mexican restaurant with dishes you don’t usually find. Great products and amazing flavours. It really tastes like Mexico. They have a small menu with 3 appetisers, 3 main courses and 3 desserts. You can also get the 5 courses formula. So if food was that good why 4 stars? For me a restaurant with prices like these (around 20€ for a first and 30€-33€ for a main course, with glasses of wine at 12€) should pay attention to all small details. You can barely hear the music so if the restaurant is not crowded it feels empty; and though the staff is really nice we lacked of information regarding the dishes, à more dynamic and professional way to introduce to the local kitchen. Really proud to see a concept like this so I just hope the amateurism of some aspects can be improved so everything is...
