I visited Clover Grill today, a place I once considered one of my favorite steak spots in Paris. Unfortunately, the experience fell far below expectations. To start, they served the baguette without butter—in Paris of all places—which felt very unusual. I ordered a filet mignon cooked medium well, but it arrived dry and tough, as did the steaks for my wife and son. The steak knives were almost useless, struggling to slice through the meat. I recommend the restaurant seriously reconsider their knife quality. On a positive note, the mashed potatoes were excellent. However, the biggest shock was the dessert: I ordered a chocolate moelleux with ice cream, only to find it priced at an eye-watering 38 euros! The final bill came to 397 euros, and frankly, for that price, I expected far better quality and service. Mr. Piège, if you’re charging this much, every detail—be it the food, service, or dining tools—needs to reflect care and honesty.

AVOID - Selected due to Conde Nast Traveler and Google reviews.

If I could give zero stars for service I would.

I had a terrible experience here recently on a date. Firstly we were sat beside a window with a huge draft coming through, and my girlfriend sat facing a flickering light which began to give her a migraine. We ignored it for the first 40 minutes, after which we asked politely to move table. We were refused for a further 15 minutes, sitting in the cold waiting for our food when we were finally moved.

Our nightmare with the service continued, our waiter was extremely obnoxious and rude for the duration of the night. As the menu was entirely in French he agreed to help us translate. Going with his recommendation we ordered a steak for 2, a portion of fries and a portion of sweet potato. When asked how I would like my steak cooked I answered ''Medium-well'', which the waiter retorted ''no'' to. My girlfriend also tried to order mash-potato as a side and was also rudely told '' no''', even though it transpired later in the night that this was an option on the menu.

When ordering a bottle of wine I chose a French white priced at 45 euro, and was told multiple times by our rude waiter that this would not work with the steak as he attempted to insist we order an alternate worth 180 euro. I politely declined.

Before our food arrived I realised that I had accidentally ordered a steak worth 120 euro (Usually we would stay closer to the 90 euro mark between 2 as a treat). Upon this realization we readied ourselves for some fantastic food. Unfortunately when the steak arrived it was only enough for 1 person. The sides were equally as disappointingly small. We had finished our entire meal within 15 minutes, which was before our condescending waiter arrived with the accompanying sauce. Our bottle of white wine was left on the table with no ice bucket even though tables around us eating burgers and beer were receiving much better treatment.

By the end of our night we left starving, with a 180 euro bill, having had an awful experience and a gut-wrenching feeling that we had been well and truly ripped off.

This was truly the most disappointing dining experience I...

Carbonara is the best thing we had, absolutely delicious. I would go back just for that. Everything else we had was not worth the money. The service was unattentive, which I would not have expected from a restaurant that seems to be positioning themselves as high class. We went to Lesserre the day before, and the contrast in service was stark. Besides the carbonara, the sides and sauces were ok, decent but once again expensive. We had the foret noire cut of steak for 2, and it was the worst steak I've eaten in ages, tough, too much sinew and felt poor to chew. When you're paying per gram, I would expect excellent steak, we ate maybe half of the overall weight. Our wine was too cold and were also told that it will be much better when it opens, and then weren't offered a decanter while another table did? It didn't make much sense. This is an experience I would be ok with at $100 a meal, not $500. I would not recommend this restaurant besides going back for the carbonara, which actually is very unique...

Terrible experience with this restaurant. We were in Paris for a couple days looking to get a good meal, and saw some good reviews about this place and decided to go in. They had no available spots at a table which was fine and understandable, however, the server, wears blazer and uses glasses, was super rude to us. He first told me that they don’t serve a full portion of the carbonara because “this was a real restaurant.” When I ordered a steak he then said “this is only good for one person” without letting me finish my order. I believe that he thinks I was unable to afford the place, which is far from true. The food was good, but the service is downright terrible. Truly the worst experience I’ve had in my travel across Europe and I hope the management does something about that server’s nasty attitude.

Overall, the restaurant had good food, nothing to complain about there, but I think the server’s attitude is disgusting. Never going back again, and never recommending this...
