On our trip before last to Paris about a year ago, our concierge raved about Club Marigny. If I recall correctly he mentioned it was a place where government officials would dine at and it was supposed to have an old school, post war vibe. Needless to say, we ran out of time that trip and couldn’t try it. Walking from Hermes (Rue du Faubourg) to Louis Vuitton (Av. Montaigne), google maps passed us through Marigny Street. It sounded familiar but I couldn’t remember why, until I saw the sign for Club Marigny. So we decided to see if they would fit us in for an impromptu lunch, and we would not regret it.
Club Marigny was an absolute hit and was an easy 5/5 for me. The location is great, the vibe is perfect and classy, and the service couldn’t have been better. Our server Enis was fantastic, super friendly and attentive to our every need.
Food-wise, everything was delicious! Started with a glass of rose champagne as it pairs well with seafood. The Luxe Salad was really fresh and light, though I would have liked a little more seasoning (still solid at 4/5). The Mini Spring Rolls (Thai Basil Chicken) were spot on, flavourful and cooked perfectly with an equally flavourful spicy dipping sauce (5/5). But the real star was the Shrimp: huge, juicy, and packed with flavor. Paired with the lemongrass, coconut, and cilantro pineapple salad and that spicy peanut dipping sauce… just perfection.
All in all, great food, great atmosphere, and top-notch service. The interior is gorgeous but we sat on the terrace as it was a beautifully sunny fall afternoon. Definitely recommend inside or out!
Ps I don’t understand the bad reviews, but have heard that some well guarded treasures intentionally post bad reviews to keep foreigners away. If this is true, that’s hilarious and sorry to expose...
Read morePlease miss this place out on purpose. I request each and every one of you to please not to go there. The simple norm of being a human is to treat people with kindness and humanity while the waiter don't even have a shread of it. They will look down on you and judge you based on the dressing sense and your looks. They are highly biased and discrimination is in their bloods. The waiter will discriminate you on the basis of your skin tone. That is really awful and yes, I have been a victim of that. The racial disrespect is a common thing among the waiters over there. In the Era of 21st Century while we are progressing so ahead, it astonished me how they treat a decent human beings with utter disrespect and they called themselves so called-educated ones while they are the one who don't even treat people right and the way they should. There are plenty of restaurant in the city having much more better taste than this one and treating the customers with a little more respect and dignity than this one. Please be glad to take another one and skip this...
Read moreShockingly rude and disrespectful. Mid-afternoon on a warm July day, strolling down the Champs-Elysees when it begins raining like crazy. My partner and I see Club Marigny and think "oh, let's stop in and wait for the rain to pass" - plenty of empty tables inside and out, under the awning.
Just as the host is about to seat us the manager (?) begins yelling at him, gesturing towards his knees. My French isn't great but when another host came out to explain it was "imposeeble" for us to eat there, because I was wearing shorts (again: heat wave, July), I understood the meaning perfectly.
There's nothing wrong with a dress code per se (though antiquated, and odd to enforce for afternoon tea), or even intrinsically wrong with turning away patrons in the rain, but the way this manager yelled as if I had strolled in naked showed a real lack of humanity, class, or empathy. I feel sorry for the employees if that's how they're routinely treated.
I'd rather walk through the rain and get soaked than treat someone so...
