So I got off the train and have a couple hours to burn while I wait for my partner that's coming on a train later...What do you do in Paris when waiting? Get a crepe of course! Well it was a Galette in my case (a savory crepe for other Americans).
Looked for a local place that was not close to the station but close enough to walk and found this place. Honestly, was incredibly surprised at the quality of Galette, it was one of the best savory crepes I have ever had (and I had a lot), so good I followed it up with the sweet crepe flambe. Expecting the flambe to have been done in the kitchen, I'm pleasantly surprised when the server brings the crepe, a lighter, and ignites it right in front of me. I know flambe can be gimmicky, but it certainly brought out the flavors I was hoping for!
On top of that, the person that was serving (and running the place from what I could tell) was a great guy! He asked every single table where they were from, and then was sure to say "thank you"/"your welcome"/etc in their native language. Me being a clear American, he didn't ask, but knowing they put in the extra effort to make you feel more at home, no matter where you're from, was quite the thoughtful touch. Since I was drinking beer though, he did bring a great shot of french apple liquor and told an anecdote of that being his first liquor he ever tasted. Impressive as it was quite strong (42%)!!
Stop by here if you are looking to burn a couple hours, or if you want a crepe burned right in front of ya! (Or if you want a crepe in general, because damn...
Read moreCrêperie La Belle Bio is a hidden gem tucked just 15 minutes from the train station—a place where taking the road less traveled feels like discovering a secret worth savoring. This family-friendly, mom-and-pop crêperie captures the heart and soul of Parisian charm, offering a cozy, authentic atmosphere. The moment you walk in, the aroma of freshly made crêpes fills the air, and the owners greet you with the warmth and familiarity of old friends. It’s the kind of spot that makes you feel instantly at home.
My son fell in love with the chocolate crêpe, which had perfectly crispy edges and was filled with gooey, rich chocolate—a sweet delight that brought pure joy. The savory steak and egg crêpe, on the other hand, was equally impressive. Tender steak, a perfectly cooked egg, all wrapped in a light, delicate crêpe—it was hearty and satisfying, made with the kind of care that only comes from a kitchen that loves what it does.
The highlight, though, was the education on Ricard, the French summer apéritif. The hisband and wife team take the time to share its history and significance, offering a sip that captures the essence of Parisian afternoons. Crêperie La Belle Bio isn’t just a meal; it’s a heartwarming, genuine experience that makes every step of the...
