I was so excited to try this place. Four of us arrived on a very quiet afternoon and intended to sit outside around a small table.
I asked immediately if they had decaf coffee as one member of the group canโt have caffeine for health reasons. They didnโt have any decaf, so we ordered 3 flat whites and intended to drink them quickly.
We were - rudely - informed that we had to order something for the fourth person, despite us explaining that she canโt have caffeine and them not having options for her. I explained that we were only intending to stay for about 15 minutes and were gathering around a table that was only meant for 2 people anyway. There were also no other customers waiting and plenty of room.
They refused to budge and the barista was really hostile during the whole conversation. We had all worked in cafes for years, and fully respect that such a small place needs to implement rules, but we would have expected some courtesy and even flexibility given that we were eager customers and the โissueโ was down to their inability to accommodate someone with health issues.
In the end we decided to leave. I never write bad reviews, but we did everything we could to resolve this with them and as others have pointed out, they didnโt seem to care one bit. Really hope theyโll learn from this and others donโt get the...
ย ย ย Read moreDespite the charm, it's a wrong place, for many reasons. Paris do way better now. I'm only adding to what has already been said in other reviews, but this place is run by people that don't have any clue about social manners. Their mindset is the outdated elitist and rude way of thinking that some Parisian businesses had 10 years ago.
Not only they'll push you out as soon as possible - not only suggesting it, but actually telling you to leave - they'll also make you wait outside for your take aways, be it in the winter when it's pouring rain outside, while there's no one inside the place. I have a long list as the situation slowly degraded for the last 4 years.
Their coffee places are designed in such a way that everything is done to make you feel uncomfortable. I first thought it was due to the lack of space, but the new place they opened in the 1st arr. is a case study for how to make people sit unconfortably in order for them to leave after 15mns max. A cynical strategy.
And sadly, it works. I would suggest to grab your coffee anywhere else around, where waiter will welcome you with nice service and where the coffee will be as good,...
