In gobsmacking Paris, with its vibrant and fabled cafe culture, why should I plop onto an Irish pub? Because you require a respite, a bit of down time to recharge in the unique manner that the Irish invented, just as the French invented the cafe; both genres have conquered the world, and understandably so. Each provide weary travelers and beleaguered residents alike a venue of rest, albeit it in different, yet complementary, manners.
Cafes justifiably dominate Paris, their place of origin, just as pubs dominate their place of origin, Dublin. As both cities suffered Viking invasions, I proffer that your invasion of (or residency in) Paris should would benefit from an occasional session at one of Paris’ — surprisingly— myriad authentic Irish public houses.
…surprising not if you know the history. James Joyce lived here longer than he did in his famously native Dublin; he wrote Dubliners, Ulysses, and all else here. Oscar Wilde breathed his last here; “These curtains are appalling, one of us had to go”.

Read moreLike any Irish pub, they will serve the typical Kilkenny, Guinness, o'hare beers and some more. Their price for beer is also quite typical for Paris, 8€+ for a pint. However, the snacking food is terrible. It is extremely expensive for very little and bad food. I had a mixed platter that comes at 25 Euro only to end up with an average sized plate with 5mozarella sticks, a small portion of fries, 6-7 onion rings and a couple of chicken bits. Read moreAfter a long day and lots of walking, we were tired and mainly picked Galway Irish Pub because I love Irish Pubs and Galway was very close by. It turned out to be serendipitous for us. The food is good. It's bar food but very good bar food!! After awhile, we started chatting with the staff Owen and Juliana. TERRIFIC people. We enjoyed the atmosphere and conversation so much that we decided to stay longer, have a few more drinks, relax, and enjoy.
