Hotel Du Mont Blanc is located on a semi-busy, mostly pedestrian street only a block away from Notre Dame and right near main metro (RER B, RER C, etc) and bus stops. Very convenient! Tons of restaurants, bars, creperies, and tourist gift shops on this street. They have around the clock front desk service as you need to check your key in/out as you come and go. We stayed for a couple of nights on either end of our trip and got a different room each time. Our first room was #17 which is in the back of the first floor (2nd floor by US standards). The window opens to other building windows so it was very quiet but the room was tiny and outdated with a very inefficient, tiny bathroom layout. We expected this to an extent since it's located in an old building. The second time we stayed we were in #14, on the same floor but in the front of the building overlooking the pedestrian street. If we had slept with our window open or without the AC unit on the nightlife would have been LOUD as there are several popular bars with loud music right below. However, this room was more updated and nicer with a much better (though still tiny) bathroom. The AC units are big freestanding units that sit on the floor and connect outside via a dryer hose in the wall so you can't move them. They take up a significant amount of floor space in the tiny rooms but work really well. The WiFi is shotty at best and cannot be accessed in all rooms. There is a second WiFi network that they might log you into if you have enough trouble with the primary network. The front desk staff is a mixed bag. We dealt with 3 staff members throughout our stays: one was a stereotypical grumpy/rude Frenchman, one was a really nice and helpful younger gentleman, and one was pleasant enough during check-in but when we asked him for restaurant recommendations he said that everything in the area is the same and that he personally wouldn't eat at any of them. Not helpful or a good customer experience. They do have a small room behind the front desk where they will let you leave your luggage before check-in or after checkout for free which was also...
Read moreI had an unforgettable WORST experience while traveling to Paris from February 8–11.
Firstly, the photos do not accurately represent the actual rooms, which was highly disappointing. My room was extremely small and felt more like a bathroom with a bed in it. When I asked the reception why my room did not match the photos, the response was simply, “Because you have a single room,” which was unhelpful and unsatisfactory.
Secondly, the bed linens were of poor quality, the pillows were uncomfortable, and the blanket was provided without a cover.
Thirdly, the noise levels were unacceptable—you can hear everything, including your neighbors, the elevator, and even water running continuously in the bathroom.
Fourthly, the ventilation was poor, and cigarette smoke from neighboring rooms easily seeped in. Unfortunately, I had the worst experience, as my neighbors were smoking early in the morning (7–9 AM).
Fifthly, the reception staff repeatedly asked me which room I was staying in, which came across as unprofessional and intrusive.
Lastly, the price does not reflect the quality of the stay. Given these issues, I strongly do not...
