Kapunka popped up on my search of local vegan restaurants on our way back home from the gardens. They are a fully Thai vegan restaurant so lots of high expectations since we love this cuisine. The menu seemed a bit limited compared to Thai restaurants in North America but there ended up being something for everyone. They offered five different mains (with four of them being curry or soup based) and I went with their Massaman Curry Noodles (16,50€). My large bowl of curry noodles was pretty good. It was loaded with potatoes, sweet potatoes, and turnips along with rice noodles. It also came with tofu which wasn't listed on the menu, but a great addition for some needed protein. While the food was alright, dining inside with no air conditioning or running fan was quite challenging. All of us felt the toastiness of Paris that evening and we were sweating profusely inside. I think it made it hard to really enjoy our meal so please bring in some fans to make the experience more comfortable.

My partner and I saw good Google reviews so we gave it a shot. We ordered the following: Fresh Salad Rolls: 4/5 - Tasty, but I think it was missing the peanut sauce. Pho: 5/5 - Was skeptical at first because I’m used to vegan pho with mock meats, but it was very savoury despite it being ALL veggies. The vegetable broth was slightly on the tomato-y side but still incredible. Mango Sticky Rice: 5/5 - The best we ever had! Mango was super soft! Lemonade: 4/5 - A nice, cold lemonade on a hot day. Looking forward to coming back in a couple of years!

I ordered the curry massaman 🍛 which was made with eggplant, potatoes and rice. The rice was so fragrant, it paired perfectly with the spices of the curry. The curry was flavourful, you could taste the coconut without being overwhelming, and the eggplant was the main protagonist. I closed it off with a riz gluant (sticky rice) with mango 🥭. It was served warm, and it is a feast for the mouth. I'll try to make it at home because I simply loved it. The waitress was really kind. The service was fast and the food was delicious. You need to try it!

Let me describe to future ubereats customers what you should expect to receive upon ordering from this establishment:

1 papaya salad, in a small, 6 oz box, with a portion the size of ones palm, with maybe 1 shredded carrot and a quarter of a papaya - 9€

Tom Kha soup - reasonably sized portion- bowl not cup sized, few vegetables - tasty - 10€

Small Thai tea with almond milk - bitter, over brewed, watered down with barely any milk, almost transparent, no sweetener - 4€

Total with delivery costs: 26€

Is this a joke? What I received (other than the soup) was absolutely shameful. You are ripping off customers and giving vegan a bad name. I order a salad from you for 9€ and it is the smallest and most expensive salad i have ever ordered. You are making a salad comprising of only vegetables that took me what..maybe 3 forkfuls, tops, to finish? There is no justification for your prices. It is because of restaurants like yours that less people go vegan because you put such an unjustifiably high price point on your food that costs mere euros to make. You offer portion sizes that are not satiating for any vegetarian nor vegan, let alone any omnivore, with a unfounded, pretentious exclusivity held by those who claim such a meal would be « So nourishing ». Even my thai tea was bitter, overbrewed and watered down with no almond or coconut milk- practically undrinkable.

You should be ashamed. This is rude and insulting to vegans and vegetarians like myself who know they can feasibly cook everything you offer at your establishment for half the price with far more reasonable portion sizes, but choose to go out and patronize restaurants with vegan offerings. I will never order or visit your establishment again and I hope that at some point these kinds of stingy, unfair practices will result in a much needed wakeup call. Because at this point, I have not found any vegan or vegetarian offerings that present good quality for reasonable value except Simple on Rue Cherche Midi...and definitely none...

Don't be deceived by the photos. The place is an absolute dump. Was decorated for Halloween but there are actual real massive cobwebs in the corners with loads of dead bugs. How can you decorate with Halloween cobwebs and not see the filth right next to it? The wall by the front door is covered in mould. Yes mould!. Pad Thai is the worst attempt , also reheated from precooked as the temperature was either super hot or freezing cold. We didn't even finish and left it was so bad. I can't emphasize how filthy the place is , even a full day of cleaning wouldn't prepare it for opening. There is a real Thai restaurant literally 20m away. Obviously some fake reviews , I don't think this place would pass inspection. Reply: I encourage everyone to go take a look at this supposed "A" clean restaurant, what a joke reply from the owner. Mould and cobwebs with dead insects such as is currently on the walls only appears after many many months of neglect. This where you serve food? My garage isnt that filthy. You don't even reply to the reheated old food. Good luck ! You won't last...

If you want to be kicked out of a restaurant for politely telling the waiter-ess you are ready to order whenever they are, chose this place. Make sure it’s the angry looking, short dark haired one. They do not appreciate being talked to. They rudely told us they could very well see us and would come whenever they were ready, and when I answered that was no way to talk to customers, they said they did not feel like waiting on us and kicked us out. Things escalated and we ended up asking the waiter-ess to fork them selves.

Pitty, because that would have been our third time eating there. Lovely food, nice vibe and the asian looking waitress is nice, polite, professional and fast.

The only problem is that angry person who by reading previous comments has a history of being a spiteful individual, i am sure this will be no exception and they will have some hateful comment to make to account for their rudeness. Clearly they are in charge of this space, otherwise they would have been fired a...
