L'Affable — Restaurant in Paris

Beautiful ambiance, when you walk in, this place feels like it has old world style. The food, also good. The service was attentive, but as the night went on, everything devolved. Service became more spotty and as the patrons got restless, the atmosphere became chaotic. A plea: If you come here to celebrate your birthday, please, do the rest of the world a favor and don't tell anyone. I understand that the restaurant can not screen their guests and if people get rowdy, it's not their fault. However, the Bollywood-style Happy Birthday house music they blare incites the crowd. We came for a good meal, which we mostly got. We did not come to watch middle aged women in Ugg boots dance in the aisles. There are reasons why people leave the United States. We loved our evening in this restaurant to celebrate my partners birthday in style. The service was impeccable, and from the moment we walked in we felt so welcome. We were excited by the amazing selection of wines but also by the fact that they had cocktails to start with. We started with these and then followed by the good selection of wines by the glass to pair with the food. The food was spectacular and the duck starter had three distinct elements of taste which were very independent of each other. We shared the veal which was just amazing and worth every penny. We have been dining at L’Affable for the past five years, whenever we are in Paris, usually staying nearby in the 7th arrondissement. We approach our reservations with joyful anticipation— the meals and staff have never disappointed. The dishes are attentively prepared and served in one of two charming, well-appointed, unpretentious rooms, including a ‘salle au fond’. A small bar graces the entry. Service is attentive, careful, never rushed as the kitchen meticulously prepares only one service per evening.
