I have been fortunate to have visited Paris nine times in my life, and ever since Hotel Signature opened, it has been my home! I just returned from my third visit to Hotel Signature and, already, I cannot wait to return!
A family owned and operated hotel, Delphine, Manuela, Alavia, and Pascal along with their night staff, including wonderful Marc, will do anything to make your stay at the hotel and your visit to Paris the most enjoyable experience one could hope for. Further, the ladies who prepare breakfast and attend to housekeeping greet you every day with a smile and bonjour!
Having been to Paris many times, on this visit I was looking for experiences that were a bit out of the ordinary. When I wrote the hotel asking for suggestions, I received an immediate reply with ideas and recommended vendors. In addition, with so many wonderful restaurants in Paris, I asked for recommendations and received a list so extensive, it would take me at least a month to try them all. Of course, advance reservations were needed for dinners and wonderful Pascal emailed me confirmed reservations for those I chose. After an 11 hour plane ride (plus airport time!), we wanted an effortless ride to the hotel from the airport and the hotel easily arranged for a car to pick us up when we exited immigration/customs.
We stayed in the Prestige room facing the quiet courtyard, the room I had stayed in previously. It is a large room with plenty of closet and drawer space, much appreciated when you are staying for a week, as we did. It includes a desk, sofa, large king bed, coffee/tea maker and a beautifully appointed bathroom. In this room, the toilet is separate from the shower, tub and sink making it convenient when traveling with a companion. Their website presents the room much better than I can explain, but suffice it to say, it is beautifully furnished with contemporary styled furniture and fabrics. You can't help but smile when you enter the room (or the hotel, for that matter!)
Breakfast is served in in a warm and cozy room, again beautifully decorated! Breakfast includes fantastic American coffee :) , fresh baked pastries, cereal and granola, yogurt, fresh fruit, cheeses, hams, salami, etc...delicious jams, eggs on request. One leaves nourished and happy, ready for a full day!
Laundry service, somewhat unusual for a boutique hotel, is available, and with another two weeks of travel ahead of us, we took advantage of this service. There are two options, a laundry one may take and drop off, to pick up the next day, or the hotel can send out. Although costing a bit more, we chose to have the hotel send out and it was returned beautifully laundered and packaged.
The hotel's location is ideal: on a quiet one-way street just around the corner from the Sevres-Babylone metro station serving two major lines that will get you nearly anywhere. Many excellent restaurants are within walking distance, including the fabulous Les Bontanistes, just a few doors down the street. The hotel is within a short walking distance to the Seine, the Rodin museum, excellent shopping, and many of Paris' beautiful parks. A helpful pharmacy and established bank for ATM withdrawals is within a 3 minute walk, literally. (Hint: download the Metro Paris and Paris Metro apps....can use off line!)
I am so glad Hotel Signature survived the hit they undoubtedly took during the pandemic. They (and Paris) are open for business with the widest smile, most sincere welcome and above and beyond service. Read moreOur first time in Paris was exceptional, particularly because of our accommodations at Hotel Signature Saint Germain des Près. They even had a personalized welcome note in the room for us, a nice touch. Not able to speak much French (very basics to try to be as polite as possible) everyone at the Hotel was wonderfully welcoming and gracious to accommodate our needs. Each interaction was friendly and courteous.
If you need recommendations for restaurants or coffee, they’ll happily provide. They also provided a map specific to the area with restaurants, patisseries and things to see. Really exceptional service. The location of the hotel was also really great for our needs and very close to a metro station which was good for getting to/from CDG and to go around to other parts of the city. It’s further from the Eiffel Tower, but I think that makes it less run down and touristy; we considered this location as more “central” for what we wanted to do. We enjoyed being able to walk to many restaurants in the area and easily navigate the metro.
We chose the “cozy” room, which was small, but exactly fit our needs; we didn’t intend to spend a lot of time in the hotel after all. If you know what to expect about room size in Europe (I think particularly Parisian hotels too) you won’t be disappointed. There actually was more storage space for our luggage (2 medium size suitcases and day packs) than I expected along with a small closet space to hang clothes/jackets and shelves as well. I was pleasantly surprised considering the cozy size option. We were fortunate to have a room on the top floor and even got a little view of the Eiffel Tower from our room (61)! There is a small elevator, but we did climb the stairs occasionally (100+ steps!) to help with our daily croissant consumption. We were in a street facing room, but outside noise was not a problem. We could occasionally notice the sound of the metro, but it really wasn’t bothersome. The only notable noise was of neighboring room occupants coming in for the night, which did wake us two nights in a row. I think we could only hear them from the hallway though, not after they were in their rooms.
I was also very pleased with the breakfast selection. I would consider the breakfast very typical of what to expect for Europe (not like standard American hot breakfast), but we left completely satisfied every day. The yogurt in France is also fantastic. I would certainly recommend and return to Hotel Signature Saint...
Read moreIn March 2018, I stayed at the Signature Hotel Saint Germain des Pres on my first trip to Paris for four nights. I cannot say enough good things about the hotel and the staff. Everyone was so incredibly kind and helpful during my trip. They were always there to make suggestions and help with any questions that I had. They remembered all the little details, listened to me, and made wonderful personal suggestions. It really felt like a home away from home.
When I arrived after a very, very long flight, I was exhausted, and they made the check in process so friendly and quick. I instantly felt comfortable and confident in my decision to stay. I really wished that my French was better, but the staff was amazing helping me in English. To be honest, even before I arrived, I emailed back and forth with the hotel, and they were incredibly helpful and accommodating.
I booked a Deluxe Room with a Balcony. Before arrival, I requested one of the rooms on the top floor, which I received. Each night, I was able to open the balcony doors so I could listen to the Paris street sounds. My room was incredibly comfortable, was beautifully decorated, and had a very homey feel. It reminded me of a beautiful La Boheme apartment (think artist attic loft with sloped ceilings and a Juliet balcony). Each night, I had wonderful night sleep, and I loved that I was able to fall asleep watching the top of the Eiffel Tour twinkling.
Travelling alone to Paris, I felt incredibly safe in the hotel and in the neighborhood. I loved walking around the city, and the hotel was a perfectly, centrally located, which made it so easy to walk to all of the things that I wanted to see and do (Notre Dame, Luxembourg Gardens, The Louvre, Musee d'Orsay, Rodin Museum, etc). In addition, it was very close to a metro stop (Sèvres – Babylone - 10/12 lines), which made it easier to get to locations further out. I also loved the area right around the hotel, which I loved to explore. It was close enough to walk to everything but felt way more authentically Paris and not so inundated with tourists. I loved shopping at the La Grande Epicerie de Paris (suggested by the hotel and only a block away), getting hot chocolate at Angelina and drinking it while people watching in the Square Boucicaut, and mindless strolling and window shopping around the neighborhood.
I will absolutely be visiting Paris again and cannot even imagine staying in...
