Stopped in at 11 AM on a Saturday for a snack/last meal before our flight back to NYC. I was looking for a spot near our hotel that had beef tartare and that was not a tourist trap and I found La Comète, which looked pretty legit. Unfortunately, it was too early for the tartare as they only serve that during lunch/dinner hours. So we ordered an onion soup, a dozen snails, and a cheese plate.
The onion soup was really good. The cheese was nice and melty and slightly charred in some spots. I shared this with my husband but I probably could have eaten two of these on my own. The snails were great as well. But I feel like 12 is a little too much for two people, but 6 wouldn't be enough. For the cheese plate, I don't remember what was on it but I remember not liking the harder cheeses and really liking the gorgonzola.
I wish we found out about this place sooner so we could have tried a proper meal. If anyone gets a chance to try the beef tartare,...

We had the french onion soup, lamb with ratatouille, and cheeseburger with fries. Needed a cheeseburger fix. The french onion soup initially came tepid so they quickly switched it up for a hot one. The lamb was nicely prepared and the ratatouille was beyond delicious. The fries were natural and they fried them extra crispy as I requested. The burger was done "sangiant" or rare and they weren't kidding. It was rare and it was good. We topped all of this off with a freshly made tiramisu which was not super sweet but really delicious. We were happy with our food. The servers are not "on you", but you can wave them down and they are responsive. We had nice seats by the window so we could people watch, had good food and pretty good service. What else can you ask...
Read moreThe portion sizes were fine. My starter - the charcuterie - was outstanding, perhaps because no cooking was involved. The entrecôte was like a shoe bottom - chewy and veiny. The interactions with staff were "interesting": We (party of 2) got asked to move to a smaller table (from a table for 4) even though the restaurant was empty; I had to ask for a fork (the cutlery I used for my starter was taken away and I didn't get a new set for the main); the waitress asked if we wanted dessert before I had finished eating (at that point we were still considering getting coffee, but ultimately decided to get it elsewhere, given the restaurant experience). Not great overall, I wouldn't go there again. Perhaps this explains why the only people in the restaurant seemed to...
