La Paillote — Restaurant in Paris

5 stars that are definitely deserved.

I’m actually surprised and circumspect by many of the reviews here regarding the staff.

To the contrary to what they say, my friend and I found the staff really friendly, polite, kind, quick to serve. That’s a great service that’s becoming rare in Paris.

Maybe they started to provide a big effort over the time. If it’s the case, then I have respect for them.

Also, they are friendly with you even if you don’t speak French (which is usually not often the case in Paris). I’m French, but I was discussing in English with my Swiss friend, and the waiters were willing to speak English if it made us feel more comfortable.

We took draught, comfortably sat on deck chairs facing the Seine river and the Bercy badass building. The scenery was all comfortable, I definitely recommend you go there. We were so comfortable that we didn’t see time passing, until the closing time (in which, they were super polite telling us that the bar would close)

This bar is a great location if you look for a chill place after you’ve been taking a train from the Gare de Lyon.

To put it in a nutshell, you should go there. It’s a hidden gem of Paris. They have a good service, which is something uncommon...

Avoid this place. Waiters are very rude and disrespectful, service is extremely slow. Not extremely expensive prices, ok for Paris but definitely for the quality they serve. Mussels were the worst ever, people were returning them. Anyway, we thought it was a nice place to chill because of the decoration but finally it was a very bad experience. One waiter was even...

Good food and good service! Our first bottle of red wine was hot (as if it was sitting next to the oven) so it was not pleasant to drink but our second bottle was nice and cool because we asked them to put it in the fridge. As a vegetarian, there are a couple of nice choices. If you need the toilet, you must ask for the key to the outhouse, and it gets really smelly...
