Le Bois — Restaurant in Paris

We visited in December 2021 (the week before Christmas) on a Monday night without a reservation and the staff were able to seat us. The outside dining decorations were lovely and the food was delicious! Our server spoke English perfectly and was so kind and helpful. Ordered the golden egg with truffle cream as an appetizer and it was delicious! For entrees, I got the veal with gnocchi and it was delicious. Our server recommended a dessert which was kind of like a rice pudding that had candied walnuts in it and it was very good! We had refills of bread and tap water the whole time. The restaurant got very busy around 8pm for dinner service. Le Bois was definitely our favorite restaurant throughout our week in Paris. Would love to visit again some day...

Nice service, extremely fast. Everything g else as awful. I got a poke bowl (I actually ordered another thing, they got the order wrong, I decided to not complain and just eat it) and it has been the worst one I’ve had in my life. Salad drenched in vinegar (I suspect rice vinegar), there were 2 pieces of boiled sweet potato and broccoli thrown on top (which were probably the highlight of the dish) and then the most random food combo: cherry tomatoes, pineapple, radish and some sort of grain with a half an avocado thrown on top. Very rude, unfriendly and ignorant service, unfortunately perfectly matched my stereotype of French gastronomic arrogance towards foreigners, which I didn’t feel at all in the previous last days hanging out in Paris. The waitress always just left immediately after she gave the menu and everything else, I had no chance to ask her any questions and had to wait for a long time until she came again. Even if you showed that you need someone to come here, she would go somewhere else as if she didn’t see you. And it was 3 pm and not super busy time.
