I made a booking through booking.com for this property. I was contacted by the “property”via the booking.com chat to say there was an issue with their in house system and my booking had been cancelled and to clink on a suspicious link to reconfirm with them directly and to add my credit card details again. I sent a msg to the property asking if this was legitimate and had no response. ||I contacted booking.com who confirmed the link was likely fraudulent/ scam and my booking had been cancelled due to a system error with the property and they found me alternative accommodation. A day later I received a email from booking.com saying the property would “honor” my booking (despite being their issue) but I would have to go and book with them directly. I declined this offer due to concerning previous chat with the property and sudden cancellation. ||||||The hotel then went without authorisation or permission and took $300 Australian dollar as pre authorisation off my credit card directly. They used my card details from bookings.com from my “cancelled due to a system error on their end”. Again without permission. When I msged the property they suddenly answered (they didn’t previously) and I asked for this to be removed and they have refused stating “it will naturally come off in a month” .. yes a month! They took and held money off my card when I don’t have a reservation, without permission and are refusing to release it.||||They have been the rudest staff to deal with. Although I appreciate this is not the hotel's fault, simple measures to ensure our stay was a pleasant one could have been implemented, such as leaving some large bottles of water in the room for each guest, getting in touch with guests in advance to apologies and warn you that you may need to bring extra water. Instead, after a long trip through public transport, we were faced with no water to wash our hands which is a basic level of hygiene you expect when booking a hotel. We were only able to flush the toilet once which is again not very hygienic. We complained to the night watchman and he had no solution to offer. He did show us a drinks cabinet from which we took two small cans of Perrier, and we were asked to sign for these so they could be added to our bill. The next morning, I asked for a discount to account for our inconvenience and he called a director who wasn't interested in our welfare or providing us with any assistance. We did get the two cans of Perrier for free but it's an insult to have had to ask for that. I have written to complain and no one has responded with an apology. If you're thinking of staying here then have it in the back of your mind that if something goes slightly wrong, you will get no assistance. Otherwise, the hotel was basic, clean and well located. I just feel that a hotel should take small steps to ensure the welfare...
