We've always enjoyed visiting Le Consulat over the years, to simply people watch and see life bustling past. The small and quirky buses that navigate the narrow streets, the many tourists snapping away and just simply watching Parisiens going about their lives.
But this time we stopped for a drink but the staff were too busy. One was doing someone's hair and make-up, the barman was just stood casually talking to someone and a waiter was tapping away on his mobile phone leant against the bar. So after twenty minutes we left. It was only five o'clock and it wasn't busy, no one else sat in the seats on the small terrace and barely a handful of customers inside.
Such a shame, the service was shocking. No acknowledgement of our presence at all. It's a bar not a hair salon or make-up parlour. After years of visiting this lovely little bar our impression of it has been spoilt, maybe a change of management or staff is needed. 🍷
Returned for the first time in February 2024 for a ew years, having avoided it due to our experience, or lack of it back in 2019. The service was a little better on this occasion. The location is great, a lovely spot to sit & watch the world go by. Oh and the small buses too. Up to two 🌟 🌟 from my previous 🌟.

Read moreI was here in April and had a fond memory of this place so we visited with our family for a dinner. It’s historical place and such a warm and cozy place. We got seated right away since it was 4:30 pm. I wasn’t sure if I give 3 or 4 stars, because I really like this restaurant but there are so many other good restaurants in Paris so I decided with 3 stars for the quality of food.. Mussels had no taste. Even though it had onions and celery, it seems like it was boiled in water without any wine. Fries were good. My daughter had a special plate with steak w peppercorn sauce, salad and fries. It was ok. Escargot was average French onion soup was ok but not great. Price is reasonable and...
Read moreHonestly it was such a horrible experience. I’ve never seen someone treat costumers with that amount of disrespect. My group was going to eat here, so one of our girls had sat down for a brief moment to tie shoes. She sat on one of the tables outside. Mind you it was completely empty and she was going to stand back up as soon as she tied her shoes. This girl is 13 years old, and we were a group of 40+ people with a reservation to eat here. The owner of the restaurant came outside and threw a pitcher of water at her. Absolutely soaking her head to toe. He also starts cussing her out in French. I believe this behavior is extremely uncalled for. Personally, I would not dine here, and I would advise the people reading this not to. Imagine that was your child having a pitcher of water thrown at them and being sworn at in French. What do you think you would do? I really hope this helps you decide where to dine next time you are in the area.
