From the outside, there’s little to distinguish the place from many other bars/restaurants in the city; even its name gives no hint of its inherent flavor. But once over the threshold, the colossal painting of legendary singer and tango dancer Carlos Gardel dominating one wall leaves you in little doubt that this is a very Argentinean affair. And, with two Argentine sisters at the helm, le Progrès delivers an authentic slice of Buenos Aires. The Spanish-speaking staff are friendlier than your average Parisian bartenders, and the music tends towards Latino sounds. Quilmes, a blonde beer and Argentinean favorite, is the drink of choice. The carnivorous menu boasts typical Argentinean fare such as meat-filled empañadas, juicy steaks and meat platters to share, along with other more Spanish-inspired tapas dishes such as patatas bravas. Read moreJe suis allée qq fois dans ce resto, habituellement très agréable. Hier soir nous étions avec des amies pour un dîner. Bruno le chef de salle a accusé mon amie d'avoir soit disant volé de l'argent dans le portefeuille qu'un client avait oublié dans les toilettes. Nous avons payé notre addition et sommes donc parties en milieu du repas en laissant toute notre parilla derrière . Rien ne justifiait cette accusation et Bruno ne s'est pas excusé d'avoir gâché notre dîner. Dommage le resto et les autres serveurs sont sympas.
